I still remember when I was a young little boy 5 or 6 y.o, my dad will always bring me to some smelly roadside stalls at Jalan Besar area. The makeshift sitting tables and chairs were by the side of a smelly canal. My dad would tell the hawker assistant 3 popiah please. This hokkien hawker assistant would shout at the top of his voice to the popiah "chef" at his stall..."LANJIAO SAR-TIAO".

That was my first learning of Ranjiao vulgarity!
