SINGAPORE: One person was taken to hospital after a thunderstorm caused heavy damage to Koon Lee Nursery and Chew's Agriculture in Lim Chu Kang on Friday (Mar 30).

The Singapore Civil Defence Force said it responded to a call for ambulance assistance at 2 Murai Farmway at around 4pm.

A 38-year-old worker from the nursery was taken conscious to Ng Teng Fong Hospital.

Channel NewsAsia understands the police and officials from the Building and Construction Authority were at the scene.

Video and photos of the storm's aftermath showed widespread damage to the nursery with collapsed structures and debris strewn across the ground. A fire engine could also be seen at the scene.

How come modern Singapore the chicken farm like something from third world 1940s standard? No building code?

how many chickens got hurt?

There are $10 ones & $1,000 ones, which ones? the $10 ones, obviously got hurt...while the $1,000 ones, lived in air-cond & brick buildings....

Singapore's building code is flawed. It is drawn by construction companies and authorities with the objective of using the least manpower; cheaper and faster.

In the past, we built the walls from scratch.
Then we prefab them.
Then we go one step further and use huge local and china glass panes to replace the walls.

What do we end up with?

Buildings with full height glass in tropical Singapore which are a complete waste of air conditioner's cooling efficiency and weaken structures because we are not right in any earthquake zone.

How come so many chickens are allowed to live in one serene area while malays were forced to scatter all over the islands after their kampung land were forcibly acquired.
