MasterChef Singapore shouldn't be in Mandarin

The great news that Singapore will host its own MasterChef series has been marred by the fact that it will be shown on Mediacorp's Mandarin Channel 8 (Singapore's own MasterChef TV series to debut soon on Channel 8; ST Online, Feb 23).

Contestants are also asked to rate their level of Mandarin literacy in the online application form.

Why isn't the show being produced in English and screened on Channel 5?

No applicant will then feel disadvantaged, and most Singaporeans will be able to enjoy the broadcasts.

Our cultural melting pot is fundamental to the way Singaporeans have come to embrace their passion for eating and cooking.

If MasterChef Singapore is not able to proudly represent our ethnic and gastronomic diversity in a medium Singapore can appreciate, then I feel it should not take on the name of our diverse country.

There were past cases on Masterchef USA & Australia version where Muslim contestants, even though they participated with eyes wide open, hesitated when asked to cook pork. The muslim community subsequently went up in arms and accused MasterChef of racism. Masterchef Organizers had obviously learn their lessons and done their homework on Singapore demographic and knows exactly whats going to happen if they make it an open-to-all English Cooking Show on Channel 5.

The Hard Truth is 99.9% of pork hating muslims, beef hating hindus, meat hating vegetarians are not going to participate OR watch Masterchef cooking contestants chopping up pork, beef or meat on TV anyway. To avoid the rest of the sensitive 0.1% watching contestants chopping up "undesirable ingredients" on Channel 5 and hurling baseless racism accusations, the International Cooking Show MasterChef made the politically correct and right commercial decision to target the majority chinese audience in the Singapore version by showing it on Channel 8.

Chinese cooking is standard basic 炸大火 style.

Watch the China cooking show u see every dishes is 汤 and 炸.

Asian dobt like angmoh food and bet u beef and potatoes are expensive and expect little dishes.

Chinese understand cooking technic basic on knowledge of food .

For examples, stir fried cooking.

Food shd be cook between 60 to 80°c.

Cook below 60°C the heat cannot kill pathogenic germs in the food.

Cook above 80°c the heat destroy the nutrients in the food.

So therefore use high heat make the woke hot enough to fry the food quickly in seconds or minute(s).

Food cooks between 60 to 80 enough to kill pathogenic germs and yet keep the nutrients.

turn off the fire and cool the food.

Food inspectors use a thermometer to check the food is between 60-80. Fines apply if it is below 60. For above 80 inspectors will just notify the seller to watch the heat.

I propose everyone carries a thermometer the check hawker food play safe.

MasterChef Malaysia is hosted on a malay language channel, targeting majority muslim audience in Malaysia too. No problem at all.

I can bet with you this Straits Times writer cum whiner Gurmit Singh Kullar is a vegetarian who doesn't even watch cooking show at all. He is just a Typical Indian Snake jealous with anything associated with Mandarin despite knowing the fact that MasterChef and Mediacorp, both profit running non charity organizations, have the right to choose the best platform to target the majority audience in Singapore.

who care whatever SINGH says ? cull these bastards
