Nurul Huda Abdullah (born 31 July 1972) is a former Malaysian swimmer. She won the gold medal of the swimming events at both Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games) from 1985 to 1989. She was the first Malaysian to win an IOC Trophy in 1987. She was inducted into the Olympic Council of Malaysia(OCM) Hall of Fame in 2004.[1]

Holds Malaysian open records in swimming in 10 individual events out of 12 (as at 5 March 1987)
Had faster times than the Malaysian open records for men in 2 events (as at 5 March 1987)

Won 2 silver and 2 bronze medals in 10th Asian Games 1986 Seoul

She has 'Abdullah" in her name which means she is a Chinese converted to Muslim. Not unusual in Malaysia. So not quite sure why this is newsworthy or even worth a mention.

Why? Let me guess … they will not be allowed to get into the pool? Unless Olympic Swimming Events are held in Mandarin Gardens or Melville Park ?
