Chitchat Going Macau only - MOP or HKD ?

I am going for a trip to Macau, almost a week. MOP offers better rates than HKD, but MOP is worthless outside Macau, just like Viet Dongs outside Vietnam and Burmese Kyats outside Myanmar.

Should I change to MOP or HKD ?

for gambling, there are more hkd tables and the slot machines are all hkd only.

for anything not casino-related like taxi, 7-11, mcdonalds, etc. pay by MOP. if u pay hkd, u will get back MOP (about -3% of hkd).

any remaining MOP shd be changed back to hkd at the money changer in macau. sg money changer dun change MOP to SGD.

The old school stanley ho casinos, like old lisboa, New lisboa have a few mop tables but not many.
