ULAANBAATAR, Mongolia: Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong arrived at Chinggis Khaan Square in Ulaanbaatar on Thursday morning (Jul 14) for a red-carpet welcome ceremony.

Mr Lee and his wife Ho Ching were presented with flowers from two children, after which the national anthems of both Singapore and Mongolia played as the flags of both countries flew next to each other.

At the State Palace, Mr Lee also inspected the Honour Guards, who were dressed in their ceremonial uniforms bearing the colours of the Mongolian flag. Twenty-four of them were on horseback and donned the traditional soldier uniform.

This is the first time a Singapore Prime Minister is visiting Mongolia.

During his visit, Mr Lee will call on Mongolian President Tsakhia Elbegdorj, and meet with Prime Minister Jargaltulga Erdenebat and Speaker of Parliament Miyeegombo Enkhbold.
