No wonder the SAF is the laughing stock of SE Asia. Just cheap fucking labour for PAP propaganda projects. How to take NS and singapore defence seriously when you are committing soldiers to make funpacks for fucking FTs and tourists?
SINGAPORE: A total of 300,000 funpacks will be given out at this year’s National Day Parade on Aug 9, and 280 Singapore Armed Forces soldiers have been busy preparing them at Kranji Camp III in between regular military training.
According to the Ministry of Defence (MINDEF), a funpack takes approximately 30 seconds to assemble, and the target is to produce 27,000 daily. The hope is that by packing the funpacks together, greater teamwork will be fostered among the soldiers.
Speaking to the media during a packing session, Lt-Col Derrick Yeaw, Commanding Officer of the Singapore Infantry Regiment's 5th Battalion, said that packing the funpacks together helps promote bonding among the men in the platoon.
“We are a very young battalion, currently six months into the workplan. So, we see this as also one of the very good opportunities, for the boys, together with their commanders, to do this at the platoon level."
Full-time National Serviceman Leong En Yi, 19, said the arrangement gives the soldiers more opportunities to interact with one another.
“It (helps) to build bonds between our platoon mates, and this will carry on into the field as well,” he said. “As we get to know a bit more about each other, a bit more about each person's habits, we're able to look after each other a little bit better in the field."
A total of 320 soliders will be involved in transporting the funpacks to the National Stadium. The funpacks will be placed on spectators' seats this year, instead of the usual collection points, to smoothen the entry for spectators as they make their way to their seats.
