"Oyee Oyee Oh, Tarzan Bo Cheng Ko"???

Tonite, we had a simple dinner at Bukit Timah market. The fish soup is my favorite, though over the years, the amount of fish is getting lesser and lesser. He ordered a couple of other dishes, his favourite pork satay and fried hokkien mee.

While, "chomping" on our food, this little boy (should be 6 or 7 y. o.) sitting in the next table kept screaming "Oyee Oyee Oh, Tarzan Bo Cheng Ko", "Oyee Oyee Oh, Tarzan Bo Cheng Ko"....repeating over a dozen times or so...

I asked my man what does that phrase mean∼ he said Tarzan never wear pants and continued "chomping" on his food. I was ... errr... but what is the relevance to anything. His parents were happily pigging away their food, and this boy screaming Tarzan not wearing pants???

Where does this little boy learn such a phrase from? School? Parents? Grandparents? Or did he have some obscene fantasy that Tarzan is not wearing pants???

To make matters worse, his parents allowed him to run like a lunatic around the hawker centre shouting "Oyee Oyee Oh, Tarzan Bo Cheng Ko". Gosh, if I am the parent, I would give this little boy a tight slap or inject some tranquilizer into this puny punk.

Ok, enough bitching from me, I have to pack some clothes for Bangkok tomorrow. Need to chill and have a couple of bubblies too

By the way, can anyone explain what does this idiotic phrase "Oyee Oyee O, Tarzan Bo Cheng Ko" really mean??? And who's the idiot who invented this goddamned Singlish nursery rhyme!?!

please lah. nowadays sinkie parents do not instill discipline in their kids and love to spoil them.

I also have friends telling me (before they had kids) that they will give their kid a tight slap if they run around like that and making a nuisance.

True enough, few years down the road after having kids, the same friends who are now parents don't even bother to scold their own kids (some say "heart pain" bullshit but my description is "spoilt").

This hokkien hyming phrase has been bugging me not because of the puny punk but the practical usage of which is ZERO.

And the more I ponder in my brains and after reading some of the posts here, there are more of such hokkien rhymes that absolutely make no sense.

Out the blue, I now recalled when I was a young girl, those guy playmates in neighbourhood would always say "Heng ah, Bayi Niam Keng, Gia Lau Ah Um Lai Cheng". I know the literal meaning. It probably means ∼Oh I am lucky that the Sikh prayed, now whack the Old Granny ∼Fine, while I do not agree with why the Old Granny needs to be punched when one is lucky, at least there is a practical usage to describe the relief of being lucky.

However, this Tarzan hokkien rhyme bugs me, as I do not see any practical scenario usability at all. None.

PS: An afterthought, if my man ∼just before intimacy ∼uses this phrase after taking off all his clothes, I will kick him out of the room. He can be all the Tarzan he wants!
