I have always had this funny feeling that Lau Goh seems always involved in "friendly fire".
They think the gesture probably would garner some goodwill votes.

Was discussing this topic with my kakis. The consensus was the pap is so out of touch, they actually believe that Sporeans will not accept Dr Chee's fiery brand of politics and the championing of human rights. We are deemed to be too caught up with bread and butter issues to bother about lofty human rights issues.
The great thing is CSJ has also toned down his confrontational stance to cater to this group. And now he meets them halfway.
And the videos on his personal and family life is a masterstroke to debunk pap's character assassination.
SDP has stuck to their call that they only want to focus on the issues.
All these have gone down well with voters......and convince them to listen.
Once they are open and willing to listen the hardest part is over....rest of the job is the just putting the message across....and that's easy because the message is simple.....simple coz it's the truth.

Yes, like we have discussed in another thread, he has mellowed and is so humble now. The fact that they bankrupted and jailed him, silenced him for 15 years, has given him time to reflect and forced to watch from the sideline. He has not wasted his time in exile. He used it to craft his message and himself.

Absolutely agree. I'd go further to say the freedom to speak up and take collective (peaceful) action allows us to secure our bread-and-butter issues by not allowing any one govt to ram policies down our throats without consultation. No govt can 'self-check', despite what Wooden says.

Exactly. It's the pap's mindset from decades back, that Sporeans will give up a lot of our rights as long as we are safe, comfortable and get to make a living. They have always counted on our complacency, compliance and rejection of the unknown. Only thing is, they under-estimated the frustration, desperation and our readiness to embrace hope. Dr Chee is exactly what we envisioned in this hope.
