[h=2]Multi-party governance – For you, with you, for Singapore[/h]

GE 2011 was the turning point in Singapore’s political landscape. Whatever
the outcome of GE 2015, the key fact remains that finally Singapore has awakened
and Singaporeans are finally seeing and reaping the fruits of a Multi-Party
Parliament.
There is still a lot of work to be done but these past four years have opened
our eyes to the power we wield with our simple hands.
Heading into GE 2015, the air surrounding Polling Day outcome cannot be any
more positive for the opposition than at any time of our political history.
The only folks who are feeling anxious and worried sick are the PAP
incumbents and the successors of those who have found it wiser to jump the white
ship to save themselves.
Singaporeans have spoken very loudly at GE2011, and try as the PAP did, the
wind of change is still blowing in the same direction.
Which brings us to the question: “Why can’t the PAP reinvent itself for life
with the Opposition?” The days of an all-white Parliament are well behind us.
The only people who cannot seem to accept this fact are the Whites.
Singaporeans have spoken and spoken rather loudly, even to the extent of
kicking out a supposedly unkickable Cabinet Minister who was a protégé of LKY
and the heir-apparent for the PM post after LHL.
It is this stubborn refusal to accept the wish of the people that irks the
recently politically matured citizens the most.
He we are, asking for accountability, for a slower pace of life, for the
abolishment of ‘GDP at all costs pursuit’, and for government to return to the
fundamental job of service to the people …. and there they are pushing us to
accept what they think is best for us.
The days of PAP knows best is history. History has shown us that they didn’t
know as much as we thought they know.
Long story short, this GE 2015, we must send out a stronger message than the
one we did in GE2011. We expect better service. We expect to be better served.
And today, that would mean the best of both worlds.
All political parties must stop bickering over trivial stuff like estate
management. We need to know where we are heading and how we are going to head
there.
=> Let's be fair here. Which is the party that is harping on trivial stuff and turning the civil service into its political axe?
We want to be able to retire and enjoy our savings and our families. We want
to be provided for in our old age. We want back our dignity. We demand only
respect.
[SUP]=> And most importantly, we want to secure the future of our next generation instead of allowing them to be betrayed and replaced by the FAP's foreign pets! Our forefathers did not make sacrifices to build this country for their fruit to be enjoyed by only one Familee and foreigners, and for their descendants to be bullied by one Familee and foreigners in their own country.[/SUP]
The PAP slogan is a stupid one. An oxymoron of a slogan. Which government in
the world has to have a slogan that says it is for the people and the country?
Perhaps, only the one which had all along been serving itself.
This accompanying shot and comment from a reader of TAV says it best:
