LATEST POLLS :

SINGAPORE - Which countries are safer than Singapore? Only Switzerland.

That's right, Singapore is the second safest country in the world, according to a new study conducted by ValuePenguin, a New York consultancy firm.

The study compared seven "data points" - life expectancy, assaults, thefts, traffic deaths, police to population ratio, carbon dioxide emissions and population - from 106 countries to arrive at the conclusion.

Switzerland, with just seven violent crimes per 100,000 people, scored 37 (the lower the better) in the study.

Singapore, which the firm called "the most environmentally-friendly country among the top five", scored 42 in the study.

NEVER TAKE SAFETY AND SECURITY FOR GRANTED.

VOTE FOR PAP... the brand that is with you for 50 years and many more SAFE and SECURE years to come.

Thanks , but I rather stick to the tried and proven. The system has worked well... if you look around us, you 'll understand how fortunate we are to have a good, honest and hardworking government.

If the problems in the north were to befall on us, we 'll be doomed.

We'll see investors and business people fleeing the country. At times, we may not understand that we are highly dependent on commerce and trade for our economy. If the government cannot sustain and stabilize the economy and thus ensuring good livelihood to its citizens, what else is there to talk ?

how about reinstating the estate duties? Back-date it to a year before KGC kicked the bucket.

Ohhhh, such a pity that Toothpick Zorro Lim would be voted out just when he has been given some work to do. ;)

At the expense of what? An over crowded nation? No, thank you.

Since 2011, the PAP government has controlled the intake of foreigners. They have listened to the voice of the people and responded. All these policy changes also came at a cost... the economy shrank and the growth has slowed to 2% to 3% growth annually. Businesses are suffering for lack of foreign workers. Workers are getting older and retiring sooner. Fewer young workers join the workforce to replace those retired. In 2020, the situation will be worse with only 1 new worker replacement for 2 workers retired.

It is not easy to find the right balance to both strong economic growth and good social dynamics, as PM Lee said, but he has promised that he will put Singaporeans' interests first and they will always remain the core of the nation.

The Opps can only throw stones at the PAP's policy, but they cannot show how they can manage a town council better than PAP's.
