Chinese police on Thursday joined securities regulators to probe for clues related to "malicious short-selling" amid recent chaos in the stock market.
Vice Minister of Public Security Meng Qingfeng led a team to visit the head office of China Securities Regulatory Commission on Thursday morning, a sign that authorities will crack down on operations that violated laws and regulations in a heavy-handed manner.
