IPPT motivated me to keep fit and run regularly to prepare for it. The monetary award is secondary but that is much more what you can earn from Mcdonald per hour.

IPPT is in fact the worst motivation for keeping fit. People just want to pass within their window and 'get it over and done with'. Most people, if they can pass, will do the bare minimum necessary.
What's the ultimate goal of passing IPPT? To avoid going to RT. What's the ultimate goal of taking IPPT? To avoid getting fined or thrown into DB.
You will never excel when things are done out of fear.
