Bros..are you saying that all royalty in the shall be demolished now..incuding Britain, malausia...bcos they did nothing....
There is a perpectual covenent when the royal hand over the administration of the affair to the people by a chosen electorates...bue the royalty still hold the ultimate control of appointment of the selected government..
look around the world..you can see all kind of despots ,tyrants who were initially elected by the people , and then deterioted into actrocious tyrant and dictator...IDI AMIN, Junta in Mymmar..Moa Tse Dong..Mugabe....
you have chosen to ignore the fact that Thalsin had commited tax evasion, corruption and feared to return to face trial........
If Britain refuse political asylum for him...being one of the law-abiding countries and democratic country,,,Britain must have known that there were good evidence of the corruption charge ..Thaksin is just playing the game of political asylum to evade his corruption charge..
He use the peoples money to buy votes in the north..by giving minutes load to the farmers..to buy loyalty...
Can Thaksin overthow a established royalty with a few hundreds years ,,especially king Bumibol were such a extremely loved and respected king...the princess had done so much of charity and care for the extreme poor...
Thaksin had no respect for the royalty to the royalty..and he forget that thailand is called the KINGDOM OF THAI...not the republic of Thais..maybe he want to be the first corrupted president of Thailands...
Just study the history of thailand....the Thais are very cohesive people and the royalty had been the nexus of gravity of the Thais...as the royal had fought with their lives over the century to protect the Thai people from the many invasions of the Cambodian, Nymmese who were many a times stronger than the thais...it was a historical bondages..not sometime a corrupted civilian leader called Thaksin can replaced and changed.......if you got any Thai friends ,,ask them about their histories and royalty..then you will understand..
If what you say is true, why would the Crown Prince be worried? The Thais would respect him the way they do his father.
The reality is the Thais don't respect him the way they do his father for whom many Thais have said to me they would willingly lay down their lives. King B cannot however rise about his familial concerns. He is the one orchestrating the unseating of Thaksin the one person with the popular clout to relegate his son to a marginal status or worse still abolish the monarchy. Can't be done? Think Nepal.
This truly is the sad thing about rule by familial ties.
how can Thaksin ever want to be LKY...Thaksin is so corrupted.......
1. 4. Agree with you. Thaksin can never overthrow the King and Crown Princess. But in the first place, who told you he wanted to do so, the PAD?
5. Thai cohesive and respect Royalty? I beg to differ in today's context. Yes they respect the King and Crown Princess because they have done many good for the Kingdom and are well loved. Not because he is King or she is Princess! If can't say the same for the Crown Prince though! Again, who told you so, Sondhi or Sonthi?
:
Although Princess Maha appears to have the people's support I gather she ain't very clever and wily unlike her daddy...me thinks the thai monarchy shall probably die when Bhumi passes on
You were right on all counts and when the old man dies, he won't die a contented man as a lot of his shitty dealings in the past has resurfaced thanks to the cyber world.The last straw was his involvement in the coup of 2006, and thanks again to the internet, a lot of his perfidies towards his own people had been exposed.Never in their 200+ years history, their monarch been scrutised as such.The rejuvenation of the anti monarchists linked to the students demonstration in 76 has a hand in this.
The King B isn't as highly regarded as even 5 years ago.
There aws also a prophecy that there won't be a Rama 10.
Part of the reason why he changed the Succession Law was to enable the Crown Princess Sirindhorn to ascend the throne.
There will be civil wars between the the siblings but the princess will have the upper hand over her brother as the Army Generals are mostly on her side.
If what you say is true, why would the Crown Prince be worried? The Thais would respect him the way they do his father.

Oh yes, the Thammasat spirit of 76..."The King Never Smiles" by Paul Handley was perhaps the precursor![]()
This king:
grew in stature under the corrupt military dictators: Sarit, Tanom and Prapass;
allowed innocent people to be executed after they were falsely accused of killing his older brother;
supported the blood bath at Thammasart University on October 6, 1976, because he felt that Thailand had "too much democracy". He was also the patron of the violent gang that were called the "village scouts";
allowed the army to stage a coup in September 2006. Furthermore he allowed his name to be used by the army, the PAD protestors and the Democrat Party, in the destruction of democracy;
has been an advocate of economic views which reveal his opposition to state social welfare for the poor. But what is worse, as one of the richest men in the world, the king has the arrogance to lecture the poor to be sufficient in their poverty (through the notion of the ``Sufficiency Economy'');
finally, this king allows his supporters to proclaim that he is "the father of the nation", and yet his own son is not respected by anyone in Thai society!
should understand the dangers of promises from an oppurtunist.

The Crown Prince of Thailand is worried when ex premier Tharksin is the government. He knows very well that Thaksin does not support him and had no respect for the Royal family. His way to the throne is being threaten if Tharksin is in control of Thailand

Democracy will not work in south east asia. Best stick to monarchies, iron-fisted dictatorships, communism and/or some radical religon.

Thailand: Strategy
Political mess or transformation?
It will be wrong to call the ongoing political developments in Thailand as a
mess. A real political movement is ongoing in Thailand. The big question is
how Thaksin and his red shirt protesters are able to paint the town red. The
recent rally started on 26 March with an estimated 10,000 protesters during
weekdays to 20,000-30,000 during weekends. The 3-day big rally during 8-
10 April managed to gather close to 150,000 protesters on the first day. More
and more red shirts are joining. Why are the red shirts out and protesting?
Thanksin and the red shirt leaders have succeeded in the following:
There is no true democracy in Thailand. The country is being ruled by
the "amatayathippatai" or what political scientists have tried to translate
into English as "bureaucratic polity", the elite class which include the
bureaucrats, the judiciary and the military. The parliamentary system is
only a lame duck system with no real control. The red shirts want to
abolish this "amatayathippatai" system.
The bureaucratic polity has made sure that the parliamentary system
remains weak in Thailand via several small parties, so that no existing
party is too powerful to disturb the existing system.
The grassroots people are convinced that the existing system has
stunted political and economic growth in Thailand. Grassroots
grievances are related to their lack of opportunities. They have been
poor in the past and remain poor and deeply in debt till today. Their
children are not given opportunities to do better in life because of the
existing system that favour the well-to-do.
The existing system is flawed as it has led to 18 coups and 18
constitutions for Thailand. Only one government in Thailand's 77 years
of history of constitutional democracy has served a full four-year term.
On the other hand, the existing elite class believes that Thaksin-style
capitalist democracy is also not a true a democracy, since politicians through
corruption enhanced their own wealth at the expense of the people and the
country's resources.
According to several political scientists, to a certain extent, the red shirt
claims are genuine while the opponents and skeptics do no good by not
respecting and recognising their claims. These opponents call the red shirt
claims gullible, stupid or just pure financial opportunism. These political
scientists believe that a compromise must be made between the two groups
and grievances from both sides must be addressed or else Thailand will go
down either of the following paths: Myanmar's military dictatorship, the
Philippines, whose periodic people's power movements do not bring about
either political stability or economic growth, and last and least of all, the case
of Nepal.
