Article 152 says..... Never mention Malay land leh.. only referring to Malays as indigenous people of Singapore... sound much like a aborigine which is like an extinct species that will require extra protections..this article is an insult to the Malays and should be removed..

Minorities and special position of Malays

152. —
(1) It shall be the responsibility of the Government constantly to care for the interests of the racial and religious minorities in Singapore.

(2) The Government shall exercise its functions in such manner as to recognise the special position of the Malays, who are the indigenous people of Singapore, and accordingly it shall be the responsibility of the Government to protect, safeguard, support, foster and promote their political, educational, religious, economic, social and cultural interests and the Malay language.’ .

It's in the Singapore constitution Article 152.

You need to look up the meaning of the word "indigenous".

The Chinks are classified as "indigenous" too provided they're where they should be rather than where they are not welcome.

adjective
originating or occurring naturally in a particular place; native : the indigenous peoples of Siberia | coriander is indigenous to southern Europ

Assalamualaikum,

We are not yet ready to drop Article 152. While I believe that - in the future - Article 152 should be dropped eventually - HOWEVER - the time is not yet right because we have not yet succeeded in building a truly multi-cultural society.

Wassalam

To me, it is an insulting term if it is used.. it means you are not able to stand by your own and need extra protections to survive..Like the Chinks you used; that was the term used on Chinese by the Westerners in those days to look down on them...and it is not a very nice term..

That's because it was used in that context but on its own it is an innocuous term.

BTW it would appear that sinkies are asking for extra protection from FT too. Perhaps they are no longer able to stand on their own two feet against more talented foreigners.

It's a racist slur but notice how freely it's used and you don't see chinese ppl coming in screaming racist ah you racist! Some of them that use it actually condone "racism" like when when you call malays m&d for example but have no problem with racist terms like chink.

Is that why all the pizza and Mcdonalds delivery jobs are strictly reserved for them?

Your remark sounds racist, got to massage a little bit and say like they excel in these jobs.

am watching a documentary on the journeys of marco polo, and i'm surprised to learn the narrow wakhan corridor between afghanistan and china still has no road for vehicles. only by foot or pack mules or 4-wheel drive. i believe the u.s. asked china to open the corridor in 2009, but china refused for fear of allowing the taliban to link with the uighers in xinjiang and creating more trouble there. anyway, on the return trip, the documentary claimed marco polo sailed on a yuan flotilla of 14 ships and stopped by an unnamed port known to the mongols and chinese at the tip of the malay peninsula (what is now sinkapore!) and western sumatra for 5 months, before monsoon winds subsided to allow them to sail to what is now known as sri lanka. if this account is correct, sg was used as a port by the song dynasty and subsequently by the (mongol) yuan dynasty. i can predict prc claiming sg as their territory in the future. :p

Why does Singapore belong to the Malays in perpetuity? Just because they would threaten to riot if we don't acknowledge it?

The world is made up of migrants, including places like the Middle East, British isles, Americas, and even in places like France and China.

There is no such thing as the land belonging to a single race, even if it is written in the constitution.
