I too missed these chaps. I think you are referring to Ptader who recently surfaced in this forum. Intelligent but fanatically behind SDP. Guy used to torment WP and its supporters to no end and discouraged others who were not Pro SDP from commenting.

You know something is not right when he said that Ghandi would be DPM one day. And he was convinced. The other thing was lack of integrity - ommisions was his hallmark. Guy had access to SPH archives but always cut and paste things that were favourable. The fabricated Ang Mo Kio incident however was another mistake. Also had old man's style of labelling people knowing that it will stick. I however enjoyed it when he took on the bigots.

I realised that Escobar had an immediate impact oin him and he started to behave himself and tone down the intimidation drastically especially on WP. He is the the one that made sure the label "Wayang Party" stuck. The opening line of every post more or less.

Perceptible as ever. In fact he was the one who created a beachhead for SDP in the forum and used to release the official SDP comments from the oven. Only later when did other hanger ons appear.

I did consider amabalam, but ambalam tends to meander towards WWII stories in every public event, so I doubt its him. But the affinity towards Ambalam was very strong. Stronger than Chee. Also knew the inner party workings.

The lady with chemicals theme is TSR111. She unfortunately is mentally ill from the very start. I did not realise it initally. She claimed that she had been molested at IMM on a number of occasions and Jurong Police did not want to do anythying. I actually arranged for a lady DAsst Comm to look into it and told her to contact this person. However she did not want to pursue. Then the period of incoherent postings start to appear and she linked it to chemicals from Jurong. I suppose she finds refuge and comfort here.

Yes, the lawyer who still could not understand that Banks are big and have hundreds of cases a day to handle. They just don't have the time to make special arrangemenst when repeated deadlines are missed.

You may be right but for some reason the dynamics of a blog and online discussion forum seemed different.

Online forum calls for open discussion and results in a variety of views. Its much more important and more valauble than a blog to society and I suspect many of us.

Blogs are the viewpoint of a single person, the author and hardly anyone bothers to have a discussion after a viewpoint or observation is made. I have noticed censorship taking place of incoming comments. Lets face it, there are millions of blog but 99% are either ego trips or bland or both. Some make it up by copying contents from news and other blogs, others do heavy graphics or just plain sex such Xiaxue and Dawn Yang.

There are alot of great onlineforums usually on a specific topic such as cars, hobbies, even politics etc.

I suspect the key is moderation of the extreme.

The old SBF was great and Sam did have excellent control in the early years. He however did let the bigots and religious fanatics run loose for quite a while and that alone began the rot, scarying away people.

I however felt that, it was doomed the moment real identities surfaced and the chase, harrassment began. Some these chaps did not realise that warm bodies attract parasites. In some cases, those who were victims became perpetrators and became much worse.

Eventually a select few drove the sane ones away and the morbid took over. Imagine an online prediuction on the death of an individual or celebrating the misfortune of others.

There are several reasons why people blog, just as there are reasons why people go to forums. The base reason is to express views, but the underlying reasons and approaches vary. (For blogs, there are food, fashion bloggers and political bloggers. Forummers are people like you, credible, or people who are on other extreme here to let out their steam on others / their fathers & mothers.)

However there is an intersection (∩) between the 2 groups and that is those who express and discuss in their best effort. Unfortunately for forums, I observe that this ∩ contains one of the more "best effort" netizens. They may find blogs put their post above others and at the same time still discuss by allowing free comments. Slowly, people link to them so they won't lose traffic.

You also forgot some people in 3in1KPT are those who were left behind, those who decided to stick to Delphi. In a way 3in1 is a split of Sammyboy.

Hearing your account of SBF reminds me of the SDP. A big party with 3 seats that split. Today, one taking the party brand (Delphi) and the other taking the seat/MP (Sammyboy). Both now add together are still not as strong as in heydays due to exodus to other competitors like blogs (NSP / RP / WP). I think WP took the bulk as many of it's new blood would have been in Chiam's SDP if they joined 10 years earlier.
