I came in to this new forum hopeful that the infraction system would curb LTS. Afterall, Sam promised this new forum would allow "self-regulation" and "a stop to shouting matches" ....

Now Sam Leong tells us to use the ignore feature if not happy with a forummer. Then isn't it the same as Delphi?

I too enjoyed the early years. There so many views from the mundane to the profound. No clones and flames were topical rather than personal.
Also enjoyed it when people took the trouble to educate others or to patiently explain what they meant. The most ridiculous yet entertaining thread was titled "Chiobu farted in the lift"

Then the revelations, whispers and whistle blowing. Remember loaded888

No other forum came close.

Sorry, for got to answer the last part.

Since 1999, a few times (scroobal. scrobal, scoobal1 etc) due to delphi stepping in. First one due to complaint by SPH and the last by an excited wannabe politician who thought that I put the real IC number of Bin Hee Seng aka QXP.

I rem ur nick and 10 years back, the old delphi was enjoyable with various of topics being shared. I used this nick after one old bird, 2lan (he was 48 y.o in yr99) got it. Simply by putting a 'U' behind.

Anyone remember we bid farewell to a brudder that was dying of cancer. He came back online one last time after all treatment failed and he was very much in peace with himself. He had only a few weeks left. Said that he had done all the things that he wanted to. A real strong soul.

A really sad moment.

Personal vendetta coupled with a desire to use "forums" as a political tool has led to a viral outbreak of clones and fake IDs. Some of us the lone voices in the wilderness have no inclination to indulge in such games because we seek only disparate view points and vibrant discussions, others with more time on hand and an agenda made up of personal and political motivations have sought to dominate forums for themselves.

- post election, attacks become personal
- flame war commences around WP identities
- 2 WP candidates from the recent elections fall out from the incident
- 2 of the those that were the mainstay of the flaming war against WP have falling out as well with one expressing regret. The other eventually goes on to form wayangparty.com in wordpress

Phase III
- SDP supporters take prominence in political discussions
- 5 stooges have a spectacular falling out with touch of teflon detected
- identities are involuntarily revealed
- clone wars specific to this incident begin and continues to this day
- 2 camps emerges, pro SDP and the rest
- incident that breaks the camels back - delphi begins banning based on complaints from paid members
- Delphi Forum is closed from posting

Phase IV
- Coffeeshop resumes in VBulletin
- Splinter groups form in Delphi
- slow death begins, 5 stooges incident continues to impact Vbulletin Coffeeshop

The personal attacks, hijacking of potentially great threads and rendering it useless by repeated postings of insults is what I don't get. The consolation is that only a tiny few were involved.

Lets not forget the religious/racial & Intellectually challenged lobby. Clearly the insecurity shows.
