I just won 4 NDP 2014 preview tickets from online balloting. I never had any intention of attending anyway. I want to earn some quick bucks from selling them online. Is it illegal to do so? What is the market rate nowadays for each ticket? And which website should I go to sell them?

Don't worry too much about the legality or ethics of things and just do it.

No such thing as market rates. If you do an online auction the highest bidder wins.

you so lucky? aren't those tickets given to new citizens only?

Before speaking of illegality, one must understand the relationship between morals and the law. Ideally, all that is illegal should be immoral (except under a tyrant ruler where by disagreeing with the tyrant (e.g. Hitler) becomes a crime no matter the moral basis of what the disagreement may be: law is the based upon the tyrant's whim and fancy).

However, many immoral things that happen behind closed doors also have dire consequences on society: e.g. adultery: yet such isn't illegal since the police refrains from interfering too much with people's privacy. However, society too makes judgements, so people like ex-speaker of parliament, Mr Michael Palmer had to resign from politics when his adulterous relationship with a married PA staff member was blown wide open.

Bidding for a FOC NDP ticket precisely for the purpose of selling it for profit moneytises one's privilege of being Singaporean and turns the NDP into a commoditised tourist attraction besides the possibility of inviting unsavoury characters : e.g. terrorist intent on causing mayhem might buy tickets so as to have bombs explode/ shoot at the PM etc during NDP celebrations: thus one might incidently be comiting the crime of high treason.

As the NDP is supposed to be an opportunity for Singaporeans to celebrate on site Singapore's annual independence day, the loyal Singaporean who for unforseen circumstances, is unable to take up his reserved place, should either find another Singaporean relative to take his place, or else contact the NDP attendance committee to suspend/ cancel his ticket in lieu of issuing another to another patriotic citizen.

My suggestion to you is to probably RETURN THE TICKETS TO THE NDP COMMITTEE ASAP since your post here is likely to irritate patriotic Singaporeans who are likely to contact the NDP committee to hunt after you for depriving them of a chance to celebrate their nation's birthday and also betraying the nation by moneytisimg it.

Please take a leaf from the book of Mr Lim Kay Soon who wrote to 2 local English papers demanding higher levies for foreigner PMETs so that citizen and PR PMETs cease to be either disadvantaged in employment opportunities or are being forced to accept a lower salary due to foreigner PMETs costing companies relatively less due to the lack of disruption due to NS commitment as well as the absence for need by employers to contribute ~16% to employee's CPF. This will raise your salary if you are a PMET/ gibe you greater employment opportunities. Please DO NOT betray the country any further, but look towards outstanding Singaporeans like Mr Lim Kay Soon who seek to improve the lives of his fellow men.

PS: AFAIK, the penalty for selling one's NDP / preview tickets is a ban from bidding for 2 yrs IIRC. However, in view of the the possibility of inviting terrorist to disrupt NDP celebrations, I believe that sellers of NDP tickets should be treated like loan shark runners: with jail, if not caning for the magnitude of their crime since the possibility of damaging the nation is real if terrorist bombs should go off during NDP celebrations.

You want to make money at greedy pap's expense?
Be prepared for full weight of law in kangaroo courts.

LOL. The NDP is in itself an unsavoury event anyway. A brainwashing event funded by taxpayer's money.

A commoditised tourist attraction too, not unlike the Chingay Parade.

For a true Sporean the only reason to go to one of these events is for the freebies.

The reason why I even bother to apply online for the balloting was simply because I hope to sell the shit and make a quick buck to spend on better things. If can sell for $200, I can go watch a nice decent concert or performance at Esplanade or Indoor Stadium rather than see the same old shit year in year out.

There will always be some ignorant mug (aka new citizen) who will pay for your tickets. Just stick them on eBay but frankly speaking every year it's the same old PAP propaganda machine working in overdrive with the boys in MINDEF getting to show off their shiny new tanks and machine guns.

Okay, as usual I might go park for a run, this time, I might watch it on TV, waiting for the fireworks to begin, especially as more and more people sell their tickets to all and sundry to make a quick buck......

The fireworks that I expect to see:...
