Yes it does because the price of food includes overheads. The actual cost of the ingredients are often less than 30% of the menu price.

There's an Italian restaurant in our neighborhood which does great pizza.

If I eat it there, it's NZD23. If I order it as a takaway, it's only NZD14.

Pricing isn't a science it's also an art. There's such a thing called the "Decoy Effect". Perhaps the operator has found that this pricing strategy of $3 and $8 for non aircon / aircon options maximises his revenue.
