Always fascinated to hear people proclaim that emigrating will solve their problems on hand...

As you get older you probably want to experience more nature and get away from the hectic city life. New megamalls no longer excite you, touristy places such as Gardens by the Bay and Universal Studios bore you, old places of heritage get demolished and whatever's left of your memories get washed away.

In Singapore's case it's even worse with massive overpopulation. That is a problem that can only be solved by getting out of Singapore.

At least in those target destinations for emigration, you probably won't find old folks picking cardboard boxes for a living.

The only problem I have with Australia is its topsy-turvy climate. Christmas time is hot, mid-year is freezing.

True to a certain extent, but most Sinkies aspire to emigrate not coz of wanting to be more in tune with nature. Ask any sinkie's wife who wants to emigrate whether she will want to pick up sky-diving, bungee-jump, or even just hiking, camping.. most will go "ewwwww".. they simply want to experience the so-called glitz and glamour of living an authentic "western" way of life, this is a product of subscribing to the hollywood values that have been bombarded in them through the various mags and tv shows.

There are indeed ppl who want to emigrate to a true first world country, but did not really delve into the nitty gritty details such as tax, climate culture. They have a simplistic thinking "overseas is better".... most have never tried to stay long-term in their choice country first before thinking that they want to emigrate, they just come to that conclusion after a short holiday. Rude awakening is what follows.

From my experience, when Sporeans emigrate they have problems because of the faster pace of life in Spore. It takes them time to adjust to the slower pace of life in places like Canada.
After they adjust they can spend time to smell the roses & spend more time with their children.

There's more to life than making money & the higher taxes in the west reminds them of this:wink:

Yet another reason not to get married. A lot of women out there are dream killers. For example, if you were to make a career switch she would complain and nag and bitch about it. And when the kids arrive, you're more or less shackled to this shithole called Singapore. You get sucked into the system, your kids further entrench you here via the MOE.

So farking true lor... have mates around me in those situation, esp the career switch thing. Sinkie wives put priority of their lifestyle over their husband's disdain of current job. Funny thing is, most of my mates, after they get married and have kids, then they start dreaming of emigrating, but THEN realise it is more difficult that one thought and start cursing current system from enrolling to primary school to COE, housing etc.. before kids, no sound one..

... and for each sinkie leaving the country, there will be at least two FTsh coming in to replace him. When ex-sinkies seek to return, the odds are stacked against them. Return your CPF money plus interest, leh.

Leaving will solve your problems in short term but in long term, you lose especially those born and grew up in sinkie land.
