Senior Minister of State for Law & Education, Indranee Rajah

Dear Editor,
I would like to share my encounters below on Ms Indranee’s handling of contentious issues relating to her ministry. Up to now, I have still not received any responses from her on the purported ‘reformed’ status of the IPTO, proposed to parliament last year and its assistance to the plight of victims of rogue business dealers.
This only goes to prove what I have suspected all along, that we are only a nation of pretense and that our so called ‘tough laws’ are in actual fact, lopsided and unable or unwilling to be enforced. This is well-known among foreign business interests who exploit the system and leave the innocent, stranded. As there was not much publication on such issues on your site previously due to most of the victims either being ignorant or not IT savvy, hence the government quietly went to plug the ‘hole’ by passing the CPF amendment bill and launching ‘consultations’ to amend the Employment Act.
It will scare you to know that there are no penalties ascribe to flouters of the Employment and CPF Act and they can just simply file for insolvency and absolve themselves of any transgressions to not paying worker’s salary or CPF. Singaporean workers already have to start off in an imbalanced playing field where most HR departments and CEO are foreigners. Can you imagine the “unevenness” and “un-level” when you couple it with apathetic and lax labour laws?
Yours sincerely,

Mdm Chow S.H.

Dear Ms Indranee,
Thank you for your reply.
Now pertaining to another matter that my contractor friend, who is one of the creditors had discussed and shown me which is attached on this email for your persual.
I am particularly concerned on how these rogue directors had breached laws, wasted precious state resources, repeatedly manipulated the IPTO and still managed to get away with everything in spite of what they had done. This goes to show a clear lack of transparency and serious loopholes in the current administration.
According to my friend, the two perpetrators have already successfully disposed their assets, are “holidaying” and moved to a location to avoid notice by their creditors. The IPTO, a department of your ministry, is also not really interested in addressing the grievances of the creditors but rather just wanting to haphazardly wind up the company to avoid more work.
What the IPTO is doing may be legally right to a certain extend but not morally so as we found that CPF and public debts can and must be recovered in accordance with the CPF and Government Proceedings Act. By not doing so, the government is only proving legislation to be an enacted white elephant and further undermine public confidence that PM touched on recently.
I read you to be an upright, just person and can I trust that you will do the right thing to demonstrate that nobody is above or more equal than others under the law, is left to be seen, Thank you.
Yours faithfully,

Mdm Chow S.H.

Editor’s note: Meanwhile, she has time to criticise oppositions (see – Indranee’s comments on ‘hijab’ generate controversy):

"you die your biz" is the best unwritten policy ever enacted and executed on the planet and in the history of mankind. :p

Madam "kar" Chow, an upright piano, you can play a song on, but may not put in a good performance. Most of the 'pxp' UPRIGHT pianos are out of tune anyway. Why bother listening to a performance..waste of time!:D

In such a case, it is no longer an IPTO issue but a fraud case. To be fair, you don't go to the MP but file a police report.

In the 1st world if you are unhappy with your politicians you can try to send them packing at the ballot box

In Spore they can only write letters of complaint. It is no wonder that the PAP take Sporeans for granted.
