I refer to Yahoo article “Workers’ Party’s Chen Show Mao not so brilliant: Lee Kuan Yew”. [ link ]

Of late, press coverage in the mainstream media has given free publicity to ex MM Lee Kuan Yew’s latest book, “One Man’s View of the World”. Readers should take his comments with a pinch of salt because they are irrelevant and belong to the dinosaur age.

Sylvia Lim was a law lecturer when she ran for elections in 2006. Lee commented that there were “hundreds” of lecturers around. Maybe he is regretting his comments now as Sylvia has proven to better understand the concerns of ordinary citizens, resulting in the constituents of Aljuneid GRC booting out PAP’s team which included 2 ministers. If a run-of-the-mill Sylvia Lim could send ministers scampering to their proper places in the private sector, doesn’t it imply the PAP’s standard to be lower than that of any lecturer’s standard?

Lee’s negative comments on Malaysia’s political system is unproductive. He could have devoted his energy to resolving the issues created by his party, and himself, instead of leaving them to present leaders.

Since his judgement of Sylvia Lim was way off the mark, Chen Show Mao may likely turn out to be PAP’s greatest fear in 2016.

Powerful as the PAP may be, it is also extremely insecure. It is totally reliant on running opposition figures down through the press and challenging them with lawsuits. There is really no contest of ideas.

On an international level, the PAP emphasises the shortcomings of other countries in order to elevate Singapore, using cherry picked data.

In the article, Lee also asked: “Can the opposition produce the likes of the younger generation of PAP ministers, never mind the likes of Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong or Deputy Prime Ministers Teo Chee Hean and Tharman Shanmugaratnam”?

A very frank answer would be we really hope the opposition better not produce the likes of PAP MPs and ministers. The problems they have created so far are almost insurmountable, requiring the massive use of state resources merely to listen to our concerns (Our Singapore Conversation) which were seldom highlighted in Parliament.

As much as Lee Kuan Yew has dismissed the views of Singaporeans on the internet, his views are similarly irrelevant to netizens.

A very well written piece with all valid points except this phrase "his views are similarly irrelevant to netizens". Actually the Old Fart is not just irrelevant to netizens but to all Singaporean citizens. Even PAP dogs are saying how obsolete the Old Fart on the quiet.

That's shows the true color of the old sly fox, a selfish, arrogant, tyrant, traitor, and a coward bastard.

The Old Fossil's very existence is irrelevant.

His achievements are overhyped, his credentials are overrated.

Utterly classless as a human being (which speaks volumes about the kind of people supporting him).

Just another self-serving egomaniac in politics who's fond of running his mouth.

That's what neitizens think. But not 60% of the voters!

Best part is, for Tonychat''s country, the "Government" only got 46.75% of the popular vote, then they are still the Government!!!

The views of Singaporeans are irrelevant to the Honorable Mr LKY.

He has a track record of success that has not been equalled anywhere in the world. Singaporeans, on the other hand, are nothing special at all so why would Mr Lee care two hoots about what Singaporeans think.

There is evidence all around you that Pinoys, Indians, Mainland Chinese, Burmese etc perform better at their jobs than the majority of Singaporeans. It is for this reason that they are favored by employers all over Singapore. Even the Singaporean business owners prefer to hire foreigners as they are more productive.

In politics, since the old sly fox still refuse to quit while ahead, citizens view are very critical to survival of the party.
the old sly fox would sacrifice his own party if its benefits him just as in WW2 as a traitor translator.

What success has he got without the old guards, take all the workers away from a man's factory and see how the factory run. He is just an opportunist task master who would use fear to get things done. The 60's riot, ISA and abusing the judicial system to get what he wants.

Most employers only see the bottom line, as long as wages overheads can be kept low they wouldn' mind even to employ a monkey to do the job. How can Singaporeans take on a job that can't even meet the living expenses in Singapore, have to be pragmatic and realistic.
