SINGAPORE — Atwell Jansen, a key member of the legendary Singapore band Heritage, has passed away.

The band posted on their Facebook page: “Today is a dark day...Heritage’s leader, Atwell Jansen passed away, after an unfortunate accident. Rest in peace, rock the heavens. We love you, always.”

The 62-year-old suffered a fall while riding his bicycle yesterday afternoon, reportedly resulting in a fractured skull and damage to the brain.

Friends and fans have also left numerous messages of condolence on Jansen’s Facebook page, calling the band member an “inspiration and a gentleman”.

Jansen played the violin, flute and harp on the band, alongside his brother and lead vocalist Ashley Jansen, electric guitarist Robert SK, drummer David McGuire and bassist Sadeq Nezamudin.

Yes I like his music and his band. Thought his bro will go first as he looked sickly but then u never know!!

Heritage was a great band that played "non-conformist" music. I remember one night at a Second-Chance concert where I dated an older girl to and they played Grand Funk Railroad's version of Locomotion and my date just broke into a trance-like rhythmic motion and didn't stop the whole song. Gosh, sweat never smelled so nice and that tune must have really turned her on. She was a music teacher too, so I supposed the band really moved her. One of the nights in my life I will always remember. Rest in peace Atwell!

Cheers!

Did you bring her some corner, to continue that "locomotion"?? she ride..choo!, choo!.... "everybody got a brand new ride now...c',om baby do the locomotion"... ha ha ha ha

How many albums did the Heritage issued? Does anyone know where I can get the catalog numbers of the albums the early groups issued, from the 1960's to the 1970's... It is not an easy task, piecing together music from those years..

so far, I manage, for example:

1. Matthew & The Mandarins, 3 LP's 1 music CD from EMI
2. The Quests, on Best Of music CD
3. One, Western Union LP
4. One, October Cherries LP
5. One, Black Dog Bone LP...

and others...:D

Oh no, why didn't he wear a helmet? Such a sad and needless loss. In this world, it seems that those who should die do not, and vice versa.

No, I never got all the way with her, actually, I've never been successful with women until I started working - and that's when they were expecting marriage. So even though I knew a few girls in my youth, I wasn't a Don Juan kind of guy.

Sorry, can't help you with albums - honest, I never bought a single music album my entire life until I had a kid when I bought kiddie song albums. Growing up from Primary till A levels, me mudder refused me brother and me to listen to popular music in case "we'd lose interest in our studies!"- didn't make any difference for my brother, he wasn't academically inclined at all. So whilst my classmates yakked about Bee Gees and all that other cissy stuff at school, limpei had almost nothing to say or contribute. Only when I was in NS and later in Uni that I listened to what my friends listened to, mostly rock.

Cheers!
