Parliament wants answers on corruption/lapses in Civil Service

How can we be sure there is no cover ups?? Gahment standards of biz conduct is lower than MNCs. I am sure if all officers and staff r required to pledge and do yearly course on this like most MNCs?

We should do away with the pre-submission of questions for Parliament. Let the ministers answer off the cuff ...they are supposed to be cream of sinkapore talents, surely they can answer questions without needing weeks of research?

You can get them only if they have time to prepare.

It is not only karma, it is a declining, rotting system, they have to revamp. They have built a civil service, that focused too much of rewards & high pay, bred a generation that take things for granted, forgetting that they are in Government Service, whose income is dependent on taxes, services charges etc.. that are paid by a working public, corporations etc.. It seems to them that, the source of income, is like an everlasting tap & rice bowls made of titanium, this breed greed not only in material possessions but in sex too.

They have lost that soul, the trust of the public & the moral compass...time, they look within & expunge the rot!

When they have 80 MPs to the WPs 7 they can simply brush off the most difficult questions the way Khaw did with AIM by saying that the TCs computer software is nothing fantastic, just quite standard and can be bought from the market. With that kind of parliamentary majority they are unfazed by anything. If they had 50 MPs and the WP had 37 then that is another matter. They would feel the pressure.

Everywhere people r talking about the recent spate of corruption cases. It will be difficult for gahment to just apologize and say let's move on. Def they got to clean up the civil service. As usual I see the usual excuses coming up...eg will this cause decisions to slow down? More red tape? These r the usual excuses people use to avoid additional controls and scrutiny imposed on them.

Proof/challenge to the MIW that obscene payroll is not clean afterall....N tell PM to revise pay......pls raise that.

I can't remember when morality was ever big with them. They will keep throwing money at any issue. Since GE2011 many more loyal lieutenants have helmed even more organisations, whereas troublesome people, such as an NTU don, have been eased out. That continues to be their prescription for governance.
