A police officer was bitten in the arm by a woman as she resisted arrest during a vice raid in Geylang on Sunday morning.

The woman, who was eventually detained, was pictured yesterday in Chinese daily Shin Min struggling with a plainclothes police officer before biting him.

Police confirmed the arrest happened after 10am on Sunday as officers conducted checks in the vicinity of Jalan Suka and Geylang Lorong 24.

Witnesses said they saw police officers entering a terraced house in Jalan Suka, when eight women ran out from an adjacent lane - Jalan Molek, reported Shin Min.

SINGAPORE - Stomp reported that a woman tried to resist police arrest in a Geylang raid and even bit a police officer four times.

According to Shin Min Daily News, the police conducted the raid at about 10am Tuesday (Jul 15) to flush out vice-related activities at the shophouses along Lorong 24 Geylang.

Shin Min was alerted to the raid by a reader who saw police officers in plainclothes arresting the woman. There were around 40 to 50 onlookers at the scene.

Lee, a 50-year-old taxi driver, said he saw plainclothes police officers conducting the raid and immediately took pictures of the woman who was engaged in a tussle with the police officers with his phone.

The woman who assaulted the police officer tried to escape in a car, and two police officers chased her for 50 metres.

11 women from Vietnam were arrested in this raid.
