Statement by late billionaire's geomancer offers voyeuristic account of relationship that started with head massage and always involved money
Racy details of the sexual relationship that fung shui adviser Peter Chan Chun-chuen said he had with late billionaire Nina Wang Kung Yu-sum have emerged in open court for the first time.
They came from a statement Chan made in 2008 during his unsuccessful probate battle for Wang's fortune, read out in the Court of First Instance yesterday during his trial on a charge that he forged the will used in that battle.
In the statement, Chan explained how their relationship had begun in 1993 with a head massage - for which he was paid more than HK$50,000 - and developed rapidly when Wang asked him for a body massage.
According to the statement, Wang, then 55, asked the 32-year-old Chan to cuddle her naked to sleep before they had their first sex in front of a statue of Buddha.
"During our time together, I would massage her, and we would then engage in loving, passionate sex," the statement said. "Nina very much took the initiative in this respect. I was captivated by her. She aroused great desire in me and we shared immense satisfaction in our sexual relationship."
Chan said he had initially hesitated to cross the line, fearing that Wang - who told him he was only the second man she had slept with - would suddenly accuse him of molesting her.
Chan said in the statement, read by prosecutor David Perry QC, that he noticed during their first meeting in 1992 that Wang suffered from headaches and told her how his father cured his mother's headaches by massage.
Wang gave him a cheque for HK$53,000 after he gave her the first head massage at her home on the top floor of the Chinachem Group's headquarters. On his third visit, she asked him to give her a body massage. Chan said he would visit Wang almost every night, usually between 10pm and 3am, and she gave him cash sums of between HK$300,000 and HK$1 million. Their relationship began to change after they had intimate physical contact.
"I remember that after I had finished one massage, she asked me to cuddle her and removed her bra, although she kept on the T-shirt and panties she was wearing," the statement said. Chan said he found Wang "sufficiently attractive" and he became "aroused", and was as a result teased by Wang before they flirted with each other.
On the next occasion, the court heard, the two slept naked and caressed each other. He then became worried about their relationship, he said, fearing that it was "just a game" and no one would believe him if Wang suddenly complained to the police.
But Wang "assured" him that she "genuinely liked" him.
With that assurance, Chan visited her again. He massaged her on a daybed before she took off her clothes and asked him to cuddle her to sleep. They slept naked for an hour before they had sex - stopping and moving to the bedroom after noticing they were in front of a statue of Buddha. The trial continues today.
