What made LTK very popular in Hougang was that he visit every funeral in his HDB ward. He knows when there is a funeral as families make the booking with town council and he give the 'white gold' as well. This was a great contrast to PAP constituencies as PAP MPs in general do not give a shit.

That is why because of what the WP MPs do for their constituents that make WP popular. The PAP has never been able to top WP in terms of the grass roots work done by WP.

When an MP visits a constituent's wake, he also gets to meet the mourners and interact with them. Through this interaction, he can pick up their concerns and challenges which he can then raise in parliament. That is not just town council work; that is one of the steps towards being a real MP.
