The MDA rules are in preparation for the aftermath of a grand funeral about to take place soon...

It's a pre-emptive measure.

It makes sense. Someone mentioned in another thread that this soon to be funeral is worrying to pappies. They dont want a repeat of maggie thatcher.'s incident. In my opinion. The more they control the worse it gets. Many of us have the celebrations planned. Just waiting to uncork the booze. I got my special whisky saved for the occasion.

A repeat of Margaret Thatcher's death? You mean the protests and street celebrations? LOL

Singaporeans will not dare to openly celebrate when LKY dies. There will be a media blackout, and Parliament will be convened for multitudes of fawning MPs to pay tribute after tribute to the nation's "founding father". I am cock sure that the WP MPs will also be paying their tributes to LKY. The media will report "mass outpouring of grief" and random people will be interviewed, in tears, saying that LKY changed their lives. A statue will be unveiled. Changi Airport will be renamed to LKY International Airport.

If there are any celebrations, police will be on standby to disperse crowds and make arrests.

I can't say I will be upset when the old man finally passes. It would be a public holiday for everyone to look forward to. I will celebrate quietly in my heart. But public celebrations? I seriously doubt it!

LKY and Margaret Thatcher are not too different. Same type of scumbags who believe in the same type of nonsense.

And these individuals will get praises from their own kind.

Not exactly. They are similar, but not the same. Thatcher did not censor the media, especially not the internet media. She also did not give her husband or children control over all of the government's investment assets. She did not lock up people for 20 years without trial. She did not initiate defamation lawsuits against her political opponents which resulted in their bankruptcy.

But ideologically, they do share similar views. Both are right-wing politicians with an elitist streak, believing that ordinary citizens should just work hard and know their role in society, while government policies should favour businesses, capitalists and banks. It is no secret that LKY was a huge admirer of Thatcher.

PAP cycle--lose election, institute rule. Lose election institute rule. The cycle carries on for them until they go.

So what is your proposal? Overthrow them using a People Power street protest? Didn't Dr Chee try to do that? What happened? Not a single soul was willing to support him, even his own party members opposed him and forced him to back down.

There will never be any mass protests in Singapore. People are too scared, too self-serving, too selfish.

Do I feel that the people should be the ultimate masters in a country, and that the government should be held to account by its people?

In theory yes. I fully believe that. However, in reality, such a social contract doesn't exist in Singapore, so instead, the people are held to account by the government. Just because one thinks that something should be a certain way does not mean that it is that way. I admire your idealism but you clearly lack maturity and you also lack a sense of reality.

I am pretty sure the 60.1% will cry in front of media and it will be in history the biggest turn out for a funeral in the entire universe.

Eh... you just described Kim Jong Il's funeral!

I sense that there is an agenda to it...

The regulation of the on-line media is a preparation to defuse and silence anyone who dares call for a referrandum on issues that are detrimental to the ruling elite after LKY demise.

Singapore has only called for a referrandum once in fifty years.in 1962..the call was made for Singapore merger with Malaysia.
