KOEI games, like RTK, RTK2, Liberty or Death, Genghis Khan, Gemfire, Bandits King, Uncharterd Waters...

I wish I could play those games on my damn PC again. People say can use DOSBOX but me and my friends have no clue how to install.

Really missed those games.

Is Unchartered Waters a ship sailing adventure game?

Back then, there were many arcade video game shops in every corner of the town centre.
Business was good especially after school and during weekends as there wasn't much entertainment in Sillypore.

However, the Sillypore gahbrament envy about this business model, they gradually banned most of the video game shops from operating but only allows NTUC resort and some of those country club and SAFRA club to operate without hassel. The business died eventually even when online games and LAN Game cafe was not popular at that time.

Many video game arcades have closed down due to exorbitant rent. You can still find some of them in malls, and there is a rather new one at Bugis+ (formerly Iluma). They're also competing with LAN gaming shops/cybercafes for retail space. Finally, game arcades' businesses have also been eroded by computer/console gaming.

Still, some games are better played in game arcades. Fighting games and driving games (with a rocking driver's seat and steering wheel).

Once upon a time, back in the early-mid 1980s, there were fun fairs set up on open grounds, and there would be a section with arcade game machines. The fun fairs were fun... there were roller coaster rides, a ferris wheel, bumper cars etc. Now, many of those fields have been used to build more HDB flats, condos and malls. Progress? I don't think so.

I have a fondness for strategy games too, especially turn-based strategy games. Master of Magic, Master of Orion, the RTKs etc. They rarely make those kind of games anymore. The dumbed down kids of today think tactical depth is too boring.

Kids these days with short attention spans only want to gain their silly achievements on Call of Duty.

I cant recall the name of this very old game. It was run on the Apple II. Those days the graphics were highly primitive and rather cartoonish, with skeleton figs. It's modelled after the Vietnam War and the fall of Saigon. The game was about trying to rescue as many evacuees as possible with a helicopter while tanks were shooting at you if you hovered longer. When you finally made it to the finishing stage there was this airport tower where the evacuees would ascend and get on the chopper.

Anyone remembers?

Just to digress a bit. Do they have a new Monopoly game where you can trade in derivatives and bonds and swaps?

Pacman, Defender, Rally X, Donkey Kong, Frogger, Space Invaders.

Arcades were banned because they were hotbeds for SS back then........not to mention smoky.......
Then ban was lifted and those Paco Fun World, Mr Ringo etc moved in.

LOL, ya! The Karateka has got great music theme to rally you.

HAha! I remember seeing the origial on Android Play recently. Together with the handheld classic Western Bar

Karateka had a sense of humour to it. I remember the "special move" at last part when you rescue the girl. That was burned into my 11 year old brain until today!
