Driver resists arrest after high-speed chase with Police from Punggol to Shenton Way
A Mazda driver had two police vehicles hot on his wheels in a 15km high-speed chase from Punggol West to Shenton Way on Monday night (Mar 25), but resisted arrest even after being cornered and colliding with the police car.
According to a report on The Straits Times, the police had been conducting an operation along the Kallang-Paya Lebar Expressway (KPE) when the man -- who was driving under disqualification -- whizzed past at around 8pm in his car.
Despite being signalled to stop by police for speeding, he stepped on the gas and sped off.
A police car and motorcycle pursued his vehicle along the KPE around Punggol West before the chase moved onto the East Coast Parkway.
The latter then turned into a carpark in Prince Edward Road, around Shenton Way, only to realise that he was cornered. His vehicle finally came to a halt after colliding with the police car.
He then got out of his car but resisted arrest. A brief struggle ensued, during which he suffered abrasions on his arms and legs. One of his knees was reported to have been bleeding.
The suspect was nabbed for driving under disqualification and for his rash act. Police investigations are ongoing.
