Extract from his interview with Washington Post before his forthcoming visit to Washington:

Question: You decided recently to allow gambling in Singapore. Has this been a boost for the economy?

Answer: For a long time, we fought in principle against casinos. Finally, we were persuaded it's big business and if we were not in it, someone else would. It was becoming increasingly difficult to shield our people from gambling. We can't be the nanny. Economically, it has worked out very well. The social impact - we'll have to wait a few more years to see.

casinos is good. build another few more...shiok!

The social impacts are well known. What makes sinkapore so special that it can avoid the adverse impact of casinos?

These $100 levies go to Ho Ching's punting fund. The Singapore Poos.

Let make this nation to compete against Macao.
Build more, and more... full of gamblers with lots of F&B/ entertainment scenes.

Mr LHL, very well said. Infact very crafty reply............I am no fool.

Yes how can you shield your own people from gambling when you have Wed, Sat and Sunday for 4-D..

Mon and Thursday for TOTO

Other days for Horse-betting.

Everyday for football..........

Who would that someone be - your gambling competitor?

Malaysia has it and lots of it in Indonesia.

Maybe he was refering to some holy countries.......

Pinky is double-talk and contradicting himself. He open casinos and then he say he cannot shield the people from gambling. He's a bumbling idiot who mess up the people's lives.

hi there

1. aiyoh!
2. ah pink is so used to farting again & again mah:D

Oddly, why cant the social impact be studied from close by countries that have casinos? Macau? Malaysia? Australia?

Anyway, for the economy wise, the casinos have to be there to generate the cash flow for SG else the wheel will stop spinning, so to speak. The pain will be felt on the social side. U win some u lose some. Just where to lose.
