First, seating arrangement. SG parliament places Opposition MPs through the chamber mixed seating with PAP ones. In the UK, opposite parties site opposite each other. OK, there are only 9 plus 1 opposition MPs. Sitting them next to PAP ones intimidates them preventing proper debate.

More important, the SG Speaker vs the Uk Speaker. Already noted in another thread. SG Speaker is not impartial (almost always a PAP MP), UK is not to be a party member any more. SG Speaker is not voted in officially. SG Speaker has limited roles in parliament.

Committees. In the UK, there are select committees to monitor each government ministry/department. In SG, there are only a few committees chaired mostly by the Speaker/Deputy, and GPCs, ie. committees loyal to the PAP and do not monitor government departments.

In the UK, every Wednesday noon time, the PM is made to answer questions from all MPs on national issues. In SG, our 2.2 million PM hardly answers questions.

In UK's Parliament, they have a parliamentary procedure called the 'filibuster" which allows an MP to impede a proposed bill. It gives the minority the power to force against the will of the majority.

Here in sinkieland, every MP is only given a limited time to talk and raise questions.

Good point.

It is unfair for PAP to use sheer numbers to restrict the opposition parties.

In the UK, parliament debate is a lot more exciting and more chaotic. In fact, every week, there is a Prime Minister's Questions where the PM will be grilled by the opposition. I doubt Pinky Loong will be able to last for five minutes with this type of grilling. With parliament this exciting, it is hard for Teo Chee Han to fall asleep.:D

SG Parliament, ministers and PM can't answer questions off the cuff ....questions must be submitted days ahead so that the ministers can get the answers ...even then, they don't answer the question.

The ministers and PM don't earn their keep.

Some British PMs cant tahan that either.

Singapore does not follow commonwealth law. Not sure what kind of law as truly unique or alien. So do not compare apples and oranges. It would be an insult to the remaining 53 countries. Singapore is like Eritrea. Lia bor gyu.

surprised to know that the WP mps do not seat together in parliament proceedings. i think ruling party one side and oppositions one side are the normal in most countries' parliament. why don't the WP make a request to seat all their mps together ? it makes sense. they can discuss issues in the midst of the proceedings.

I was expecting PAP to be sacked by we the citizens of Singapore on 2016,now it looks it is impossible,PAP must go now, down with fucking PAP's stupid needs to have 8 million sardin fishes in this little island, their red dot,if they do not go,then we have to go,looks like PAP refuses to give an alternative.

人民行动党走(路)!打倒人民行动党!!!!!!!

PAP karung sekarang, turun dengan PAP!!!!!!!
PAP கீழே இப்போது வேலையிலிருந்து PAP!!!!!!

sack PAP now,down with PAP!!!!!!!

Oh my god. You idiots really make things up as you go along. The filibuster is a feature in the United States Senate, not the UK Parliament. The only way the UK Parliament can delay a bill is if they have a majority in the Lords, in which case they can delay, but not quash the bill.

Clearly a psychological act. All PAP Ministers in the front. WP MPs scattered amongst the shitty PAP non Ministers.
