My take: they are scholars, having worked with scholars (not the ones mentioned here) I dont have a good impression of them as they cannot perform when parameters dont follow a linear fashion, aka when shit hits the fan as it often does in real life.

they are v book smart, but also very straitlaced and CMI in biz world which is a lit bit similar to politics.

If a parachutist lands in my constituency and is a pappy, I would not vote for that man.

LY is impressive. Can't be number one at EDB if not assessed as highly capable. Brains and EQ solid solid unlike many other scholars in the SPF - past and present. YPH's daughter is his good friend.

Worked with/for some of these police scholars previously. Most of them very ordinary, imo. And yes, many won't make it outside the civil service. They can't even make it inside the civil service. Just look at KBH and GLK - CP and DC previously. One is now a Sr DS and the other a Sr Dir at MHA. Not wanted by others. LY was PS in his late 30s. AK too. But at 56 yrs of age, KBH is only a Sr DS while GLK can't even make it as DS. What a shame!
