This woman deserved to be sacked! You were pregnant even before you were employed!
I am writing in to seek fairness on being pregnant while being employed in my first month.
One month into my new job, I discovered that I was 5 weeks pregnant.
This was confirmed by my gynaecologiest, and I felt it was only fair that I informed my employer officially. Upon showing the certification letter issued from my gynaecologist, the company, Crystal Jade told me to pack up within 30 minutes, saying that the company do not need my services anymore.
I was appalled and disappointed at their attitude towards me.
Pregnancy shouldn't be a reason that female employees are terminated, even when they are in their probation stage. Especially so since the government is encouraging Singaporeans to be more pro active
for people like myself planning to start or have a new addition to the family.
I went through the rules under paid maternity in MCYS website. The 90 days employment service during probation do not protect the pregnant womens' welfare effectively at all. For my case, my service with the company was only a month, does it mean that the company has the rights to terminate my service under such circumstances?
