Totally agree with you on the folly of conducting your own trial. Objectivity is lost because it’s your life on the line. Doctors should not operate on themselves, lawyers should not conduct their own trials, but it is perfectly fine for accountants to cook their own books!
While not actually saying out loud that Rumpole of Sammyboy is Tey, you have used it in the headlines, which should read “Tey to be convicted at the way he is conducting his case”. $50,000 may look like small change IF you do not take into account financial commitments – mortgage, car loans, children’s education, etc. To say that one is “suspended” is different from saying that one is “not paid”. Hence, there may have been no lie, just misreporting aka Jedi mind trick. For sure, “suspended” means your job is not as secure as before i.e. you better reserve the $50,000 for a rainy day, unless it is absolutely necessary to spend it.

This guy to too clever by half. First trying to use the net to fight his case with multiple handles. Attempting to carve out an image of a legal rights champion who is being persecuted by the authorities for his legal penmanship. Using his native country to support his cause with content of a similar style emerging from that side of the border. And it goes on and pn including his court conduct such as going thru 44 paragraphs etc.

This is quite usual for tertiary institutions. Not only to protect the students but also the staff who think they are in puppy love and also the system where genuine systems are not unfairly penalised. Very difficult to enforce.
