1. Fractious and personality driven. Every one wants to be "leader" indian chief ...
2. Too much Ideological diversity for an island of 5M (4M Singaporeans). In us 400M people, 2 main parties.
3. The fractions seem to dislike each other for the smallest things inlcuding jealousy of those more successful.
4. Compromise aka "give and take" becomes a difficult without respect for each other.
5. The existence of clowns to whom the MSM so kindly give air time, I won't name names, pulls down everyone.
There is no mechanism of quality control.
6. Some forget what the voters want in an opposition which is all that matters. Remember Chiam was the first to success
epitomises humility, thoughtfulness, dogged hard work on the ground - doesn't that says what Singaporeans want? Something lost among the boisterous self aggrandized who talk as if they are saviours of Singaporeans but with little to show for. If we want a savior, we will tell you okay?!
7. Politics is an art. Just like playing chess. But in Singapore, there is no level playing field so as opposition you start with a few missing pieces. You need more smarts to overcome your disadvantage. You cannot attack when you're weak and exposed your weakness. One mistake can be fatal, the seats & teeritory you win, quickly returned back. That constrains you to be cautious - you have to be positional and gain territory one square at a time.
8. However, if the PAP drops the ball, foul up the economy like the authoritarians in S. Korea and Indonesia...sinagaporeans will be more open to another form of politics, another type of opposition. But the PAP constantly adjusts and make changes so that this day will never come and that kind of politics will never see any success for a long time.
9. So the way is to learn from those who can get the votes and support of the ground. But sometimes the egos and the sense of self-importance is so strong among these indian chiefs, they rather believe they are right and everyone has wrong...they rather insist on they own way,...plodding along with no progress.
10. Some times I feel sorry for them that they can't wake up and continue beat themselves to death never achieving anything and perpetually playing into the hands of the PAP...at times despised and laughed at by the people whom they are suppose to rescued from the "authoritarian PAP govt". The funny comical thing is they keep doing the same thing, repeating the same mistakes, hurting themselves to the point that some of us feel sorry for them. But most of my other Singaporeans view them as pathetic delusional souls ..would have nothing to do with them.

The question is how come when one party start to do better, the rest will try to pull it backwards rather than let it pull everyone forward.

Jealousy, big egos, create a failure mentality among opposition...in the end they just pull each other down.

I am watching this BE very closely to see what kind of indian chiefs are playing what kind of games.

Politics is like that. Democratic politics is very messy.

You just have to believe in karma, that when everybody is watching, the sinners will be punished. Big people with grand delusions, backstabbers, petty people.

We have chosen this road to go down because we believe that this extremely messy democratic system is still superior to a dictatorial PAP system where everything is in order, everybody follows instructions efficiently, but it is a dictatorship. You have to take the good with the bad.

Since CSJ fucked up, we can say that a battle has been lost. But the war is not over yet. Even two steps forward and one step back is still a net gain of one step.
