(1) - No more high-rise littering
How hard can it be, you wonder, to not throw something out of your flat and pop it into the shute or bin instead? Not hard at all, but high rise littering is still a no 1 complaint on walkabouts.
(2) - no binge drinking, and an alcohol free zone at Robertson Quay!
(3) - considerate smokers.
I'd actually prefer no smoking at all, but that's another issue. Rising number of complaints about second-hand smoke from families with young children in HDB flats. Smokers on the other hand, say they need a cigarette to relax, and home is the last bastion, as it's more and more difficult to smoke in public. Well, ok, but try to do it such that so others don't have to inhale what you exhale.
(4) - that people would just use the loo if they need to go.
For some very odd reason, certain people seem to think that a lift is a public toilet. Well, it may be roughly the same size as a cubicle, but it really isn't the same thing at all!
And it's not just in the heartlands. My outraged resident just sent me a picture of a taxi driver blissfully relieving himself onto the grass verge of Draycott Drive. He was however also blissfully unaware that she had snapped a shot of him in the act. I was almost tempted to share the pic, but on second thoughts I didn't think that pic needed a public airing, unlike something else that was aired.
(5) - no illegal, inconsiderate parking
Parking along double yellow lines, double parking along double yellow lines, parking at zigzag lines, parking at disabled alighting lots, parking anywhere except at a designated lot. It makes things so inconvenient for other road users. Don't do it. Please.
(6) - no more mean, nasty comments targeted at race, religion or nationality.
We share a common space. There are differences and irritations, sure, but let's work them through and resolve them. Making horrible comments or spewing invective just isn't helpful. You'd have thought there were enough incidents last year to provide lessons for a lifetime, but no, we had another one just a few days ago.
Here's wishing and hoping.....!
