Youth injured in Orchard Cineleisure attack

A youth was injured in a slashing attack late on Thursday evening at Orchard Cineleisure, according to eyewitnesses.

It's believed he was beset by a group of other boys in the incident which took place just outside the 7-Eleven convenience store.

A photo of the boy lying injured and being helped by mall security guards which was taken by an eyewitness is going viral on Twitter.

Twitter user Cara Chiang (@yourstickyrah) posted: "I just saw a stabbed guy and a dude shouting a gang name at Cineleisure (sic)."

She also tweeted that he was "twitching and spitting blood".

Two years ago, a 19-year-old polytechnic student was killed in a Downtown East slashing by five gang members.

Cineleisure has always had an 'Ah Beng' reputation to it, but the seats in the movie theater are more comfortable as compared to other cinemas in that area (e.g. Lido). Hence people go there.

I earnestly call upon the Secret Society's Branch of the SPF to please give priority to such cases.

Why are you sleuths waiting quietly? You have the power under the Societies Act to detain and investigate "suspected SS members".

Are you waiting for the next victim to be your own beloved son or daughter?

Please have care and concern and act fast to forestall such nasty incidents from occuring.

Singapore is a small country and the SPF can rein in this hoodlums swiftly.

In the days long gone by, CID would mount anti-crime operations and round up suspects.

These led to the SS members coming on their heels and many hardcore members incarcerated for a long time under the Criminal Law.

Forget about "drink-driving operations". The policeman on patrols can easily see the manner vehicles are driven or ridden and take remedial action.

Give priority to such acts of lawlessness that took place in Cineleisure.

Have mercy on the victim or at least on his parents.

They need protection from you people. So please tarry.

Bro, they aren't competent to handle the SS and triads in S'pore. From my knowledge, less than 3 in SSB commands some respect outside Police Cantonment Complex. Surely not the Head of SSB.

There were names of ordinary detectives from SSIB in those good old days that sent shivers down the spines of "pai kias" (or rather cowards that attack in groups). If the Head is unknown outside then might as well close SSB.

I don't understand what has taken place that led to police officers of today prefering to be "low-profile". Maybe something to do with the taking away of pensions and other major changes that changed the Schemes of Service.

Imagine a Singapore becoming like Harlem and backlanes of Rio De Janeiro.
