Strike by PRC bus drivers illegal - will govt take punitive action?

Confuseous

In conclusion, I would like to say that it would be interesting to see the events that would unfold. They are:

1. How would the govt now take action against these strikers, who have transgressed the law. If none is taken, or if inadequate action is taken, that would signal that future strikes can be staged to the detriment of Singapore's economy with impunity or little punitive action.

2. The govt and many companies will have to take a hard relook at its strategy in employing cheap foreign labour.

Good luck to the PAPpies on this one. It is a pain of their own making.

Just stick to old fashion. Employ local and Malaysian only for bus captain.
10 year ago no bus accident and bus run smoothly no sudden brake and speeding.

But..., but Tiong drivers are on lower wages. Surely a profitable public transport company is for the benefit of all, especially the shareholders?

No Further Action will be taken. Everything amicably resolved. All simply a misunderstanding. Miscommunication too. If wanted to take action, would have done so much earlier.

Problem is temasick wants ever growing profits. Since bus fare can't increase much, bus cost and fuel cost are fixed overseas, the only thing left under easy control is drivers salaries.

The entire world obsession on permanent growth has to stop. Global development already past it's peak. Time to measure success with other metrics.

Wicked PAP will not do it. There must be a good reason why they wanted Indians and PRCs to become drivers here.

please rise for our national anthem!!!

the lyrics very meaningful, especially on this case.

Instigators may be ask to resign on their own. The govt need to step down from the stage with some 'face' otherwise how to face the voting populace? Do not expect them to be charged in court, go jail etc. If locals involved, sure seepay jialat.

We are the third SAR after Macau & Hong Kong, the most these strikers get would be sympathy from the NGO's. Let us see what actions they are taking, the bring in the problems, they solve the problems. If these were local workers, the "Indian Chief" will be hauled to "sepoy line" complex & given the "aircond" luxury..but these are are beloved brethen, we must embrace, integrate & welcome, from the land of PRC!

These PRC just went off work, what if they had , all 100 or was it 102 or was it 200 of them, decides to drive the buses & hold the passengers hostage & demand they get what they think, they deserve to get??

The morning papers today, make it sound like this is a small matter, the management had spoken to the drivers etc... what actions are they taking to punish the culprits & what actions are they taking to protect us from these "terrorists"?, so to speak..we are held at ransom by so few, who will disrupt our transport system.

It is time SINgapore & SINgaporeans WAKE UP!
