When we signed up for PR it was made quite clear to us that our son was liable for NS. It was also made clear to us that if our son revokes his PR and hence NS, then there is a very good chance that he will never be allowed to study or work in SG again. This is plastered in all the paperwork as well as being advised by the ICA agent at the time of physical application. Given our son was born here and will most likely continue making friends over the coming years, it might be very hard on him (emotionally) in the future if he wants to stay or return to SG if he (or we) revoke his PR and the govt does not allow him to work or study here - this was one of our major concerns / considerations when we made the choice to become PR.PRs have a choice. They can choose to give up their PRs and not to do NS. To stay in s'pore, they only need to get a job and have their employers apply employment pass for them. After some time, they can apply for PR status again and will be granted.

Don't worry, mate, if your son didn't do his NS but if he can get a degree back from Australia, he can return to S'pore to look for a job, get one and apply for PR again. I can assure you your son will be granted PR status again. My M'sian colleagues did just that.
What's stated in your application form is mere theory but in practice, it is a different story altogether. This PAP govt likes to use scare tactics.
So are you letting your son serve NS or not? When we signed up for PR it was made quite clear to us that our son was liable for NS. Pete,
After your son has served the NS, ask him not to become a citizen if the pappy regime is still around. It's not worth the while to die for a family.
Have a Great New Year to you and your family!
Cheers!
