THE Singaporean teacher had taken the group of friends from Singapore trekking to the Pelepah Falls, a popular trekking destination in Kota Tinggi, Johor.

Of the group of eight, five were first timers. The group comprised seven Singaporeans, including the teacher and a Singapore PR.

The group got lost while trekking and had to spend the night in the cold and damp forest.

A local showed them a path out of the forest and they heading out when they were met by a rescue party.

All in all, the group had spent nearly 24 hours in the forest.

Even our army boys get lost in the Pahang jungle last time .

Pahang Jungle, during my reservist days, attached temporarily as controller to a section of OCTs undergoing training on P Tekong, on a night toppo exercise section level, around the camp area....they got LOST!! They were using MAPS, not as in google maps or GPS..as in printed Toppo maps!!!

Read this news on NST while in Malaysia, the SINgaporean group "halians", thought this was a theme park or even Gardens By The Bay, they forgot that, this is real nature...according to their press reports, the procedure is get a local guide & register with the rangers or something, all these they never do. I wonder if they charge these "haolians" money for using their resources to rescue them?? They thought their mobile phone can work in the jungle..read something that they could not make calls...jungle no wifi.. ha ha ha & so sorry no whatsapp, only using MONKEY CALL network...ha ha ha they should trek Garden By the Bay..maybe there, they get lost too...:D

Ya very embarrassing that NST go and print such things but I guess they damned happy to make us shy. But they quite good to come to rescue us first before they blare it out so I guess we still got to be thankful to them.

Lucky they didn't accuse them of spying on their waterworks at Kota Tinggi! ha ha ha ha

The jungles are not crime infested but slime infested.

I bet there is one or two of them a Reservist Capt or Major.:D All topo kings.

I think so. My elder brother was in NS then and I think he mentioned the exercise. Bersatu Padu.

Yes that is correct. Recall my PC related the story. Sword of Honour Lt. Lim fainted from exhaustion and thought he was about to die. Bequeathed his Bak Kwa he had brought along to his fellow officers as a last will and testament. It was hilarious and I was laughing so hard and until today cannot forget the tale.

All who enters the Malaysian jungle like Kota Tinggi should never wonder out of sight of the river. Will not get lost so easily. You have to respect the jungle for it can be very deceptive to those who venture into it for the first time.

it does expose how useless all the years wasted in NS. our NS boys get dumb and dumber after their stint :(

Cannot blame them as everywhere in Singapore has road signs. No road signs they tend to get lost.

Yes must respect nature at all times no matter how advanced we think we are.

Do you know that the most Malaysians and even those who work as rangers and soldiers say a prayer before venturing inside? And they are familiar with the jungle unlike us.
