That is the lifestyle that a man should seek. Work hard, play harder. Despite the growth of China and South Korea, you still see the mass migration of them to US and Australia. Their work life is simply too hectic.

In Canada there is a choice of whether you want to work hard or play hard. That is not a luxury that Sporeans in Spore have.

Many new emigrants from Sporea aren't used to being so free So they get involved with lots of side biznesses, working on weekends, etc . It takes them awhile to adjust to the slower paced of the Canadian lifestyle.

Bro Ash, recently I witnessed a house being built in Oz.

I remembered the last time when I purchased a new landed property in SG, that team of Thai workers plus a full time local Supervisor handling defects complaints, easily surpassed the Oz team more than three time or more in headcount.

In Oz, it only take 3 chaps to lay all the tiles on the roof including getting the tiles up from ground level and finishing it off with constructing the surrounding gutters. Getting the tiles up to roof level is automated. Ditto for distributing the tiles over the roof - semi automated. They are all specialist. Not jack of all trades like those Thai workers. Most of the time, these Thai workers would be hanging around waiting for instructions.

Singapore has a high per capital GDP is because we have obscenely excessively paid ministars and their cronies. Strip that away the top 10% for both countries, and you see the huge difference in the per capital GDP. Don't you understand simple statistics or basic mathematics?

Very true in the civil service. I know a number of people who timed their departure from office to coincide with their bosses. Machiam chance meeting.

Some will leave lots of files on their table during office hours just to wayang. Others are known to send email late into the night as 'evidence' they worked long hours. Bloody bull shit.

Hong Kongers are a tight group of people just like wolves. They cannot survive without each other. Ive worked in Red Deer Alberta and the asians I see there are pinoys and indians. These two groups of people are survivors and thick skin. They can work and survive anywhere out of their comfort zone. Hongkees stick together in Vancouver which makes them weak and seems unemployable. You need to socialize with the natives when you are in a different cuntry in order to stand out.
