TAIPEI: Taiwan superstar Jay Chou got nasty with the paparazzi that hounded him on Friday night, as he left a Taiwan cinema with his mother and rumoured girlfriend, model Hannah Quinlivan, reported Taiwan media.

When one paparazzo questioned him over when he and Quinlivan will be handing out wedding invitations, Chou became upset and told him that he would do so "when you (the paparazzo) die".

The notoriously anti-paparazzi star conceded that his behavior on Friday was a little rash, but remained largely unapologetic about his actions, when he met the media after a promotional event on Sunday.

"It was already quite good that I didn't hit him," said Chou, before explaining that the paparazzi had asked him some highly offensive questions that night.

He added that he hoped "Taiwan will become a quiet place" and said "a lot of artistes would like it if there are no paparazzi in Taiwan".

Chou also took the opportunity to clarify that he did not propose to Quinlivan during their recent visit to London, as some tabloids have claimed.

"I was actually there to shoot a music video. It was for work," said Chou.

"It is funny how this became a marriage proposal."

The definition of a "Paparazzi" is: "Paparazzi (singular: (m) Paparazzo or (f) Paparazza) is an Italian term used to refer to photojournalists who specialize in candid photography of celebrities, politicians, and other prominent people. Paparazzi tend to be independent contractors, unaffiliated with a mainstream media organization."

this is really " steal eating"....wauhahhaa!!!!

More like a STALKER........Stalking is a crime. Under the Crime (Domestic and Personal Violence) Act 2007, stalking includes the following of a person about or the watching or frequenting of the vicinity of, or an approach to a person’s place of residence, business or work or any place that a person frequents for the purposes of any activity.

Stalking involves a persistent course of conduct or actions by a person which are intended to maintain contact with, or exercise power and control over another person. These actions cause distress, loss of control, fear or harassment to another person and occur more than once.

Stalking can involve threats or sexual innuendo and the stalker generally tries to intimidate or induce fear in the person they are stalking. The person being stalked may only realise they are being stalked once they identify a pattern of strange or suspicious incidents occurring, such as:
vulgar,obscene and profane...and threatening messages
messages left on social networking sites and in reputation system
threatening notes left on their car or in their inbox
wreaths left at their victim's home
an awareness that they are being followed
being continually snarled and scorned at by another person.

The person being stalked often develops a sense of loss of control over their lives and is forced into changing their life routine and behaviours.

Stalking is committed when a person:
Intentionally and persistently
Without legitimate reason
Engages in a course of conduct directed at another specific person
Against their will
This causes the other person to develop fear, or to believe that harm would come to them

Simply this means that whatever intentional actions the stalker takes to put you in fear can be considered stalking when it occurs more than once and against your will.

So these paparazzi are stalkers too ?

The guys here have heard of Bruce Lee, Chow Yuen Fatt, Jackie Chan and Jet Li but they've never heard of this guy.

Ok, I get it. Jay Chou can't be a superstar because the guys here have not heard of him.

He's a protege of Jackie Wu.

Ex-gf is Jolin Tsai.

But I never liked this guy anyway. Yet, he's also a movie director back in Taiwan. LOL

A superstar has to be a household name. EG Psy is now a superstar. Even the 85 year pensioner across the street has heard of him.

If people go "who"? then the label is not appropriate. He's a local celebrity at most.

Jay Chou (born 18 January 1979) is a Chinese Taiwanese musician, singer-songwriter, music and film producer, actor and director. In 1998 he was discovered in a talent contest where he displayed his piano and song-writing skills. Over the next two years, he was hired to compose for popular Mandarin singers. Although he was trained in classical music, Chou combines Chinese and Western music styles to produce songs that fuse R&B, rock and pop genres. He composes all his own songs, as well as songs for other singers.

In 2000, Chou released his first album, titled Jay, under the record company Alfa Music. Since then he has released one album per year except in 2009, selling several million copies each. His music has gained recognition throughout Asia, most notably in regions such as Taiwan, China, Hong Kong, Japan, Malaysia, Indonesia, India, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam and in overseas Asian communities. He has sold more than 28 million albums worldwide up to 2010.[3] He debuted his acting career in Initial D (2005), for which he won Best Newcomer Actor in both the Hong Kong Film Awards and the Golden Horse Awards, and was nominated for Best Supporting Actor by Hong Kong Film Awards for his role in Curse of the Golden Flower (2006). He produced the theme song for the film Ocean Heaven starring Jet Li. His career now extends into directing and running his own record company JVR Music.

@Boss Leongsam,

Yes, that I totally agree. Jay Chou is just a humsum good-looker. He's an average singer, a lousy actor and a bad director.
Superstar? He can wait long long lah. LOL

Cannot disagree with you.
In the present Chinese music and film industry, good song writer, singer, actor or director does not seem to have any value.
As long as you are a well known Hong Kong actor you are a star and can act in any film.
