I'm really sick and tired of all the moronic, infantile drivel written in bad English.

If the intelligent amongst us collectively deduct the rep points of the idiots on a regular basis, they'll all soon be in negative territory and will thus be demoted to the "moderated users" category.

This will discourage them from posting and the forum will take a giant leap up the intellectual scale.

I have seen how some posts with bad grammar, syntax and even content have been zapped into moderation limbo and sprang back to life with more points gained than were deducted. Are the Dark Gods of the Internet so powerful? One wonders

Do not underestimate the forces of evil. A concerted effort is needed to keep them in their graves. Like zombies, all they need is half a chance and they spring back to life. We need to drive a stake through the heart and make sure it stays there.

you could start off by imposing rules like show proof of at least a pass in engrish language in O level when twits
want to sign up. to make the standard even higher , you can set min entry required to be A level.

in the long run , your forum will be the perfect place for twits to learn engrish.

si mi is more teochew, more Singaporean hokkien, while sia mi is more Taiwan, minnan slang. Over the years, I think the dialects diverged a little for the different regions.

A better way is to have a dedicated folder where reasonable discussion can take place. Occasionally there are threads that display such a quality. The general folders overtime has encouraged the wrong behaviour and it is difficult to change. And they are also a necessary vent for the everyone including the high brow chaps.

The Political folder does reasonably well in this regard but its is about politics and comes alive during political events.

One other suggestion is to reward those with who put across quality contribution in a way that they rise to the top and we attract others of a similar mind. Overtime you would have what you are looking for.

Like a "like" button? I occasionally find the premise of a thread interesting, but could never go through all 500-600 post. Would be excellent if there was like top 10 liked comments available.

Let me see. I had 3 red blinks (-) which were given when I said the following:

1. Singaporeans need stronger laws. The guy remarked "agree" but gave me a red.
2. If Vincent Wijeysingha becomes the next SDP chief he would not be a strong one. Got a vulgarity for that.
3. SDP going back to old pattern. Another one with vulgarity.

My green blinks (+) were for:

1. Expressing conditional support for WP (2x).
2. Criticizing WP for not giving Chen Show Mao bigger roles.

Very interesting thread started by Boss himself.

Once you start drawing the rules and regulations, it's going to end in the dustbin. Just look at the power which is now in the hands of forumers. You can buy points and infraction power. This is like expanding the nuclear club. This forum is getting very dangerous and it can explode .Many forumers will be killed some unfortunately become casualties of war. Some died and killed in the cross-firings.Some were killed because they were wrongly identified as "enemies". Some got lynched to death because they expressed something that is not agreeable to a particular group which seem to control the trend here.

The whole playing field has changed. Now many forumers are holding power and infraction capabilities. Some already got the nukes. If they don't like you and if they have a bad and wrong impression of you, you become an easy target.

Banning a forumer has become so easy now and so convenient. One button - you are gone! All your arguments into the incinerator including the poster.You wrongly identify your target and he becomes a victim. You offend one powerful godfather, you are dead. You offend one ring leader, you are marked for death.
