Posted on 09 Sep 2012 Show some respect, please: Tiong Bahru residents use S'pore flag as curtain
STOMPer J feels it is disrespectful of these Tiong Bahru residents to continue to hang the Singapore flag in this manner, despite having received an advisory from the town council.
Said the STOMPer:
"I spotted this flat in Tiong Bahru using the Singapore flag as a curtain.
"The flag is meant to be displayed on the flag hooks on the parapet, not hung from the windows and definitely not used as a curtain to keep out the sun.
"This is utter disrespect to our national flag.
"We have reported this to the Town Council, and the Town Council has advised them to show proper respect to the flag, but they are still using it as a curtain.
"The flat is owned by a Singaporean couple who are overseas and have rented the flat to a group of expats who have also thrown loud parties till 3am until the police had to be called in.
"It is one thing to not respect your neighbours but to not respect the national flag of your host country is really too much."
