the song that inspires you most

Nonsense.

Come on... even the man himself has admitted that he has weak vocals and a limited vocal range. He should stick to what he does best and let someone else do the singing.

Do u mean Knopfler or Mercury?
Thought u were commenting about vocals on Queen song.

The 14 minute epic "Telegraph Road" by Dire Straits is another great song...
Those of you who don't like superb guitar work needn't click play. :o

guitarist orgasm. bob dylan and eric clapton come to mind.

freddie's stage appearance caused me to cringe more than his vocals. those tights, shorts and chest hair. yikes. his vocals were unique. strange and queer for me at first, but my ears have since adjusted.

There's a video on youtube, Mark Knopfler playing lead guitar on "Sultans Of Swing", Eric Clapton playing rhythmn/backup guitar for him.
Shows how much respect EC has for Mark.

Bob Dylan is a first class songwriter, but for vocals, Mark still slightly better than Bob. :D

Knopfler. I was commenting on the video you posted. Mercury is one of the best vocalists ever. Nobody else has been able to step into his shoes.

Was confused by your post #31.
Yeah, Knopfler as a vocalist, I woiuld have to agree with you, although he has his own style.
He's still better than Bob Dylan though. :D

ok, knopfler. he's old, and a crooner will soon creak. "money for nothing" has never left me, but the memorable part of that song was sung by his band members.

it was in memory of "the day that music died." what was the song that was sung by the dead, before the plane crash?
In memory of Buddy Holly (rock and roll fame), Ritchie Valens. Before my time, but understand they were iconic

McLean's magnum opus, "American Pie", is a sprawling, impressionistic ballad inspired partly by the deaths of Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens and J. P. Richardson (The Big Bopper) in a plane crash on 3 February 1959. The song popularized the expression "The Day the Music Died" in reference to this event.

buddy holly's last song "it doesn't matter anymore", it was rumored, was a curse.

8mins, but all time classic (and favourite). Trivia: His And I love You So had many cover versions from Shirley Bassey, Perry Como.

And did you know Roberta Flack's Killing Me Softly was allegedly done for Don M?
