Simple fishy about this case . Normally a $200 fine would suffice. This Pastor could be a repeat offender.

I recall it is jail for these people. Read about an SAF senior officer also masuk for this offence a couple of years ago.

Customs comes under Ministry of Finance. ICA under MHA. Do not flatter these chaps. Both have their own Intel Division. For one good case detected, at least 9 others got away. Ditto CNB.

everywhere there is crime . petty , serious crimes , at some location it happened often , some rarely.
if you are aware certain places are more famous for things to happen , you
just have to be on guard and be extra careful.

A church pastor tampered with his car's fuel indicator, and lied to an immigration officer about it.

For giving false information under the Customs Act, Steven Yang Suan Piau, 47, was sentenced to two weeks' jail.

Yang tried to drive to Malaysia with about a quarter tank of fuel in his car.

His car indicator, however, showed that he had a three-quarter tank of petrol.

There is a three-quarter tank rule for vehicles leaving Singapore.

At around midnight on Jan 3 at the Woodlands Checkpoint, an immigration officer questioned Yang about the indicator, and Yang said twice that the indicator was correct and that the fuel gauge had not been tampered with.

Another charge of failing to comply with the three-quarter tank rule was also considered.

The pastor at Eternal Life Baptist Church in Kim Keat Road is appealing against the sentence and is out on $15,000 bail until the appeal hearing.

My advice to everyone going to any country is to please adhere to the following:

Be humble always.

Respect the fact that you are in another country.

Be aware of the taboos of the majority community of the country that you happen to visit.

Always put on a smile and treat the people there with respect.

Do not flaunt expensive jewellery, gold ornaments, other adornments. All that glitters attracts.

Do not travel in expensive cars.

When wanting to pay for anything always have small change ready and DO NOT bring out wads of notes.

No fellow human will want to hurt anyone who does not seem a threat to him or his group, unless of course if he/she is a violent and insane person.

Everyone, including "punks" or gangs understand the meaning of LOVE for they too have loved ones amongst them.

I have travel in "so-called dangerous areas" but have never been robbed or assaulted. Instead I have been given the respect.

Don't always think that being from SINGAPORE you are the Best, Bester and Besterest.

In short, when in ROME do what the ROMANS do.

Anyone can call themselves Pastors. In the west, like UK, pastors are also known as ministers.

I would think they have a device to detect any alteration made. About 10 years ago, a friend of mine jioed me to have mine done. Crazy! The costs is just too high for such benefits.

Religious leaders, whatever their faith, shouldn't be enticed coz of the salary paid. I have at least 3 friends who are pastors. They were all doing well in their profession but felt God's calling.

Whatever, religious leaders are still human beings. Some will acquiesce at some point to whatever vice(s) that confronts them. Nothing sensational.
