If such MEs are so special, why dont promote them to be officers? I never understood why its soo hard to NCOs to become Officers anyway. If the NCO is capable etc, he/she should be promoted to at least Middle Rank officers than move on according to capability.

My experience is many NCOs are more capable than officers, but bcos of the Iron Ceiling NCOs can only remain NCOs,,can never become senior officers.

Look at the Military Scholars,,,how capable are they??Look at LHL and Chan Chun Seng chap,,,really general material meh??

In many countries, its like that,,but I think in the USA etc,,the NCOs are professionals in their own right,,but I dont see the logic, of 1 graduate after OCS become platoon leader but the Platoon Sgt (who is more experienced and basically runs the show) have to report to him,,where is the logic in that?

Call a military and military. Which country calls their soldiers ME when all are suppose to be experts in something? Basically, this ME nonsense gives NCOs (I hat the term Specialists) some sort of commission but a stupid name and a redundant task--they have to work on the same area for the rest of their life till past 60.

Intel, Medic, Engineer, Tech to name a few. A few warrant officers and officers i know of have or will ORD because of this ME Scheme. The officers don't want to lose their rank and the warrant officers are aghast their former men from ME1/ME2 (3SG to MSG) can jump to ME4 (LT/CPT) because they have the relevant degrees.

I saw in the papers that some of these ME creatures actually are awarded swords.

Looks like it, since ME4 are considered officers equivalent, anyway all senior spec (SSG) and above who went for the Sergeant Major Course before knows the sword drill, its not that complicated and exclusive anyway

When you have many experts here and there in your organisation, they aren't experts anymore. Same goes for specialists. But, some people get an erection when they are called expert or specialist. 1st world indeed. If I happen to be an expert in a certain field, vocation or a real specialist in some field, I would not want to be associated with the SAF.

ME replies - I've braved the elements, going without sleep, fought through hordes of enermy to get my hands on the latest edition of Command & Conquer. I then reported sick, got attend C home and stayed up to complete the game.

I just confirmed with my ex-colleauges, yes ME-4 and above whether they are from WOSE once they get ME-4 they are considered comm officers, never mind whether they come out from OCS or from the ranks

Maybe it helps. During wartime, the snipers wont understand the rank and thus wont shoot the MEs
