What kind of vocation can convert to ME?
So means a poly B mechanic 3SG can now become a captain equivalent after getting a degree?Intel, Medic, Engineer, Tech to name a few. A few warrant officers and officers i know of have or will ORD because of this ME Scheme. The officers don't want to lose their rank and the warrant officers are aghast their former men from ME1/ME2 (3SG to MSG) can jump to ME4 (LT/CPT) because they have the relevant degrees.![]()

Yes the WO1 and WO2 then were enough....we call them the rolexes.
Even the SWO that came later was still ok.

ME was introduced to improve morale and allow for civilian rank to be identified clearly in the picking order. With ME its is clear where a Senior Enginneer or Intelligence chap stands with a uniformed Colonel. There was a lot of difficulty on to address one another or determine seniority.
When it was first introduced many in the uniformed senior ranks were no longer surprised why a a particular civilian staff got Public Admin Bronze or Gold during National Day.

I just read the ST report on the CWOs. 4 CWOs newly promoted.
Back to my original question. So who's the chief among the 4?
These new ranks are either to make people feel more important about themselves or to make those who invented them feel that they have done important work.![]()

Basically, the ME system is to pacify the non-SAFOS people who would never rise to BG rank. So far, only one ME8 (or BG equivalent). Bet you he converted to ME in order to get that.
It's entirely stupid.
The ME scheme was sort of designed to arrest the turnover rate. The clowns in charge thought this would be an 'attractive' way to retain servicemen and wanted to be 'competitive' with the open market since the ME gets full CPF and new benefiits. Believe me its just another manpower experiment, those who left or wanting to leave is not doing so because of an unrewarding career but for many reasons. We had CS, PP and now ME. The clowns will keep us suprised in 2020. Every 10 years got something new
