More than $640,000 worth of Ice was found in 12 lead pistons in a West African woman's check-in bag at Changi Airport on Monday.
The drugs, weighing 2.7kg, were this year's largest seizure. The 28-year-old woman was arrested in the Terminal 1 arrival hall when X-ray bag scans showed anomalies in the pistons. If found guilty of importing drugs, she could get the death penalty.
On the same day, a Singaporean man, 38, was arrested in Bukit Batok West for suspected drug trafficking. He had two envelopes of substance, believed to be heroin, weighing 450g; 125g of Ice was also found in the car he was in.
